Chapter 6 - Mount Hallasan ⛰️

The second day of the trip started after everyone had a light breakfast, toasts, butter and orange juice, made by Jin.

The destination for the day was Mount Hallasan. The hike started with Jin guiding everybody throughout the route.

"Ok Peeps.. Are you up for a real hike?" he asked when all of you reached the bottom of a huge mountain range. You all screamed full of excitement nodding your heads in covenant.

"Then climb Korea’s highest mountain, Mt Hallasan. This is one of the highest mountain ranges of Jeju Island '' he said again, making a lot of heads going up towards the rock in front of them.

He started going up while everyone followed him behind. He pulled out a small brochure which apparently had a lot of information about the cliff.

"You must have studied this in your geography lessons if you were attentive enough that this is also a dormant volcano of the island." he said laughing afterwards. Most of you agreed again because, let's face it, no one listens to what we are taught in geography.

Everyone was interested in what Jin was saying. Everyone but Jungkook. He had his eyes fixed on the top of the cliff while he moved along the narrow path created along the way up.

Your eyes fixated on his face, while his own on the mountain top. He pulled out his own little small Journal and flipped through the pages until he stopped at a certain page.

"This is also the highest and the only mountain peak in the world that is also a volcano," he said, drawing the attention of other climbers.

"Yes. Jungkook is correct. This is one of the three highest mountain ranges of South Korea" Jin agreed, nodding his head.

"There is a local Korean traditional  saying that "Jeju Island is Hallasan, and Hallasan is Jeju." Jin added after all of you were halfway up the hill. Most of you were huffing due to all the climbing, so everyone suggested that you all take a break.

"There is also a national park surrounding this mountain. So if any of you want to see that, they can stay here and enjoy the scenery while exploring the park" Jin suggested to some girls who were on the verge of  brain damage with the amount of exhaustion in their bones.

They agreed and laid down on the grass around where they were sitting. You sat there for a little while along with Aria and Yoongi. The girl who was clinging onto Jungkook since yesterday gave up and threw her body in the ground, sighing heavily.

Your eyes searched for the mentioned Boy and found him looking at the scenery around. You were curious to climb the top since you've studied a little about the island before boarding the train.

"Let's go" you said to Jungkook who was sitting looking upwards.

"Where? You wanna go up there" he questioned pointing at the top of the mountain.

"Yes. I want to go there" you said and started moving up. Jungkook followed you immediately.

"Wow specs, I never knew you were this adventurous. Where were you hiding this side of yours all those years?" he started teasing you while following you.

"If you'd have paid any attention to me all those years back, you would have known. I was always like this" you lied, again. You were never like this. The trip and the small pep talk with Jin made you like this.

"Lies. All lies. Tell me why you are being all badass all of a sudden? Why go all the way up when you can relax and watch the park?" he questioned again.

You stopped in your tracks and looked at him. You didn't know the answer yourself, so you did what you were best at.

"Why do YOU want to go up?" you questioned back.
