Morax, also known as the God of Contracts and Rex Lapis (Chinese: 岩王帝君 Yánwáng Dìjūn), was the previous Geo and one of who presided over . He is also one of The Seven's two original members who are still alive at the start of the game.
He currently wanders the world as Zhongli, a consultant for the Wansheng Funeral Parlor.
He goes by a plethora of names and titles, including the Prime of Adepti, the God of Contracts, the God of Commerce, the Warrior God, and the Groundbreaker.
Once a year, Rex Lapis descends during the Rite of Descension, giving guidance to his people for a prosperous year and dictating trade, which is the region's focus.

Rex Lapis is the God of Contracts, Commerce, and the Warrior God — among many other names. He was the Geo Archon and is the oldest of "The Seven," and possibly being one of the oldest, if not the oldest, gods at over six thousand years old.
In addition to forming the geography of the region he governs, Rex Lapis defended Liyue in great battles such as the Archon War, which was waged in the area that is now Guili Plains against other gods. In one battle, he successfully defeated an ancient god known as Osial, using massive stone lances to imprison the sea god, which is now known as the Guyun Stone Forest. In another, he sealed the Mountain Dragon Azhdaha under a tree in Nantianmen following the dragon's rebellion. Other gods Rex has slain include the Chi pf Guyun, and Xiao's former master, the God of Dreams.
Morax is also the source and namesake of Teyvat's currency, the Mora. Mora is minted at the Golden House through the use of Morax's Gnosis.
Currently, Rex Lapis resides in Liyue Harbor as Zhongli, working at the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor as a consultant.

In Liyue, somewhere in the woods a person with black hair that was tie ponytail long hair faded to orange is sleeping beneath the tree.
The figure jolt for a bit, before slowly opening his eyes that are sharp shows in bright amber with a glowing yellow eye pupils that are in a set of diamonds then the figure scanning his surroundings.
The figure slowly blink then move his right hand towards his face, and then their seems a gleam of recognition in the figure eyes before slowly standing up.
The figure slowly walk their way in a nearby river, then slowly crouch down to look at the reflection of their own in the water.
They slowly reach their own hand towards their face. Confusion and shock is most likely written on his face, if anyone saw him.
The hand that was touching their face, slowly tried to touch their river reflection, but it only made their own reflection ripple in a soft wave.
Whatever they were doing it seems like it work for their looks like they accept something. Then they slowly stood up.
"I am Morax and Rex Lapis" they whisper softly to themselves.
"But I am also a wandering mortal name Zhongli that is also the disguise of morax of the geo archon"
"It's seem like my past memories as a human have come to me in a bit of a shock to me" the figure slowly chuckle.
"That knowing this whole world. The millennials that I have spent living."
"Was nothing more than a game that I used to play in my past human life."
