A/N: here's chapter 23 for ya guys, I'm sorry its been a while since the last chapter a lot has been going on but after finishing the re write of this story, I'm back.
Inside the arena
Halibel walks onto the arena stage as she stands across from her teal haired girlfriend Nel."Are you ready Nel"? Halibel asks even though she knew the answer to that question. However Nel didn't answer she just nods her head and gets ready to fight."Halibel are you ready"? Midnight asks as the blonde haired girl nods, then Midnight turns to Nel and asks the same question with Nel just nodding as well as the fight begins.
Immediately both girls rush towards each other and as Halibel reaches Nel she throws a stiff roundhouse kick to the body but Nel absorbs the kick with her Hierro as she returns fire with a vicious knee to the body causing Halibel to recoil from the impact with Nel following it up with a one-two hook combination to the body and finishes her starting attack with a spinning straight kick to the body getting separation between the two. Both girls smile at each other as the rush towards each other again. This time Nel attacks first as she throws a short but swift left uppercut that just about catches Halibel on the chin as the blonde haired girl moves her head almost fully out of the way. Nel then follows up with a right overhand however Halibel manages to dodge the punch and then goes on the counter attack.
Halibel fires off a quick four punch combination that consists of a left jab to the head, then a right hook to the head, then a stiff leg kick to Nel's left leg and finally a lunging knee to the body. Nel recoils as Halibel presses her advantage as she changes up a Bala and fires it at Nel with the small yellow sphere creating a small explosion that pushes Nel towards the edge however the teal haired girl recovers quickly and then rushes towards Halibel as the blonde haired girl throws an uncharacteristic wild left hook which almost caught Nel in the temple but she manages to duck underneath it and throws a short yet powerful right uppercut to the body and as Halibel's head drops down Nel grabs it and attempts a standing guillotine choke.
In the stands
Everyone in class 1-A is watching this fight with great intrigue with no one saying anything. Grimmjow is watching with a critical eye trying to figure out how to win in the finals however he is taken from his thoughts as Momo taps him on the shoulder and asks."Are you okay Grimmjow"? Grimmjow nods as he replies."Yeah I'm fine just thinking about things that's all". However a voice a row above him says."You thinking? That's dangerous". Grimmjow chuckles as he replies."True Shiho, very true". Kirishima, who was sitting next to Shiho, points to the arena and says."Looks like this fight just got a little more interesting". Everyone turns back to the fight.
Back to the fight
Nel has her back on the stone arena floor with her left arm wrapped around the back of Halibel's neck with the blonde haired girl's head stuck under the armpit of Nel trying to escape the submission hold. Halibel begins to punch Nel in the ribs to get her to release the hold but this has the opposite effect as Nel begins to tighten her grip.'I need to get out of this hold and fast but how '. Halibel thinks as she attempts to stand up but Nel applies more of her weight to force Halibel to the ground, Halibel was fading to unconsciousness quickly. However a flashback to her past begins to fill Halibel's mind, a vision of a child like Nel screaming in pain as tears stream down her face with a tall brown haired man wearing a white lab coat walking around with a small sinister grin on his face. The next vision is of a child Grimmjow with anger filled tears standing in front of her and Nel with two other children smiling at him as they prepare to fight.
Halibel lets out a scream as a second wind fills a body as she quickly stands up and then slightly pulls her free and then slams Nel into the ground causing her to let go of the submission and then Halibel begins to unleash a powerful barrage of punches to finish the fight. Once Halibel lands the final punch she stands up as Midnight announces."Nelliel is unconscious and the winner moving on to the finals is Tia Halibel". The crowd roars in appreciation as Halibel bends down and picks Nel up in her arms and walks to the back.
In the stands
"Well that was unexpectedly brutal from Halibel". Momo speaks out loud as Grimmjow stands up from his seat and walks to the back to go and see his girlfriends.
Backstage
Halibel is walking towards the stands with Nel in her arms however a light blue blur grabs her arm and pulls her into a back room."What was that about Sharky"? Grimmjow asks as Halibel gives him a sad look as she replies."I honestly don't know as I was passing out a got some nasty flashbacks to our time in his 'care' and I guess I just blacked out". A few tears begin to escape the eyes of Halibel as Grimmjow embraces her as he replies."It's okay Halibel, while there is a break before the finals lets just rest for a bit and get you emotions in her check before we have to fight". Halibel smiles at Grimmjow however the two are then joined by a recently woken up Nel as she joins in the hug.
