River sat in the snug with the three Shelby brothers, Tommy and Arthur aiding her while John continuously passed her drinks of whiskey to get her mind off of the pain she was feeling.
Grace has come in, hoping to get an idea of what was going on but when she saw the woman with her dress practically hanging off her body- her undergarments being on show and the three Shelby brothers- she flushed, backing out of the room as quick as she came.
John had joked about it, mumbling about how the barmaid had a thing for her, only to receive a punch in his chest.
"Is it nearly done?" The woman breathed, her eyes screwed shut from the pain she endured from the pressure Arthur was pressing against the wound.
"Almost, Riv, almost," Arthur grumbled, nodding to Tommy who began to wrap a bandage around the woman's stomach, Arthur's hand jerking away so it wouldn't get caught in it.
"You know John, if you asked, I would've married you." The woman chuckled, twisting her head to the side so she faced the man sat down.
Arthur's loud laugh was heard as Tommy stopped wrapping the bandage for a second, glancing up at the woman's face- his eyebrows raised as he glanced back and forth from his brother to the girl sat in front of him.
River twisted her head back, looking at Tommy as he stopped wrapping the bandage around her, a small smirk itching its way onto her lips as they made eye contact.
"I'm joking, Tom." She whispered, wincing as he began to twist the bandage around her stomach once more.
As the man's hand grazed against her skin, River glimpsed at the man's eyes.
Those blue eyes.
She hadn't remembered how bright they were, even if he looked so tired and worn now. They were still beautiful.
She flushed as Tommy raised his head, their eyes meeting as he backed away slightly. Letting out a breath, Tommy nodded, averting his eyes away from the girl as he mumbled, "It's done."
Nodding, River rushed to pull the dress back over her head, wincing slightly as she pulled it over her body, hiding herself from the Shelby brothers eyes.
Pushing herself off the table, River nodded to the three boys, snatching the glass of whiskey front John's hands, gulping its contents before shoving the glass back into his hand.
"Thanks, boys." She mumbled, bowing her head as she passed both Arthur and Tommy at the door, feeling awkward at the frown silence in the room.
River knew they were still stepping on eggshells with her- knowing they hadn't fully forgiven her.
"Miss Silver," the woman stopped in the doorway, glancing to the woman who had appeared in front of her.
"Grace please, call me River." She spoke, pulling the hem of her dress down slightly.
