"What was that Gabble?" I ask after hearing her murmur something.
"Baby," she mumbles again.
"Awe Gab, you said your first word!" I exclaim in joy as I kiss the top of her head. "Mommy's gonna go call Auntie Spencer."
"Baby," she murmurs again making me smile as I walk to the phone to call my best friend Spencer.
"Hello?" I hear Spence ask.
"Hey, Spence, it's Dyl. Guess who just said her first word," I squeal into the phone.
"Gabble!" She exclaims in joy. "What was in?"
"You'll have to wait and see. Plus her birthday's tomorrow, so we have to celebrate her birthday anyway," I laugh.
"Okay," she says.
"Break!" We both yell at the same time.
***************
"Happy birthday dear Gabble. Happy birthday to you," Spencer and I sing."Now can I see her first word?" Spence laughs as I help Gabble blow out her candle on her small cupcake. We made three one for me, one for Gabble and one for Spence.
"Whatever," I laugh before turning to Gabby. "Hey Gabble, wanna show Auntie how you talk?"
She looks at Spence and smiles a toothless smile before mumbling, "baby."
She looks at me then back to Gabby is disbelief, "Gabs! That's fantastic!"
Sodapop's P.O.V.
"Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birhtday dear Izzy. Happy birthday to you," the gang and I sings to Izzy.
She looks at us all and smiles her little smile with only her two front teeth before she murmurs an unclear, "baby."
Lexi is the first to respond as she picks her up kissing her little head as she squeals, "that's right Izzy you are a baby!"
"She is such a cute baby," Bizzy beams as she picks her up. "I mean, but look at all of the kids."
"How many kids are there is the gang again?" Johnny asks.
"Let's see, six and one coming just from Lexi and Dally," Steve laughs.
"Fifteen, soon to be sixteen," Pony tally's up quickly.
"Stop being so smart," I joke ruffling Pony's hair.
"Never," Pony jokes.
"I wonder how Dylan and Gabby are doing," Destiny blurts out.
I look at her, "I don't know."
"I'm so sorry Soda," Des apologizes quickly.
"No," I respond quickly. "It's okay.I always wonder that."
"I miss her," Lexi admits tears welling in her eyes.
"Me too," I admit. "I love her."
"We all do," Darry says.
"She was so much fun to just gossip with," Bizzy laughs.
"But she had a lot of darkness in her life," Emily says and Johnny nods. She always confided to those two.
"Yet she was always laughing and smiling," Bells says smiling.
"She could make anybody smile," Two-bit smiles.
I look up at Evie to see tears streaming down her cheeks, "she was my best friend and I love her so much. She was apart of the gang. I wish she never left."
"It's what she does," Lexi shrugs as a few tears also leave her eye. "She leaves when she can't face the issue anymore."
"This is the second time," Darry frowns.
"We all love her though, for all her perfect imperfections," Dally laughs weakly shaking his head as he fights back tears.
"She's a hell of a lot stronger than most people," Biz nods her head. "I don't know how she does it. I couldn't live her life."
"Who could?" Johnny asks.
The whole gang shakes their heads. "I still think of her everyday," Evie continues to cry. "I wish she was still here to make me laugh everyday. I just wish she would show up at the door and be like 'surprise'."
"Me too," Dally nods.
"Same," the rest of the gang agrees.
Dylan's P.O.V.
"Happy birthday Izzy," I whisper to myself as I blow out the candle of a secret fourth cupcake. "Mama, loves you."
I rest my head on the wall behind me as I start to sob thinking about the gang. I miss them so much. I love them so much and I wish I could see them, mostly my Pepsi-cola. I love him, I always will. I miss him and Izzy. I miss what was supposed to be my family. I miss Lexi, Dally, Evie, and Steve, but they probably forgot. They probably forgot all about me, I'm nothing special. They most likely don't care about me or Gabble. They're probably laughing as they play truth or dare with Soda's newest girlfriend who has most likely replaced me. Evie has another best friend and Lexi is smiling with Dally and her kids. Soda is living with somebody new telling her he loves her. Johnny and Stevie are probably back from war smiling with the gang as they celebrate Izzy's birthday even though she's playing with the other kids. Kendall is probably the oldest as she laughs watching the younger kids as she tugs at Dally's shirt like she always used to do. I miss them. God do I miss them, but they've probably forgot all about me.
