"Toys? Check...Food? Check...More toys? Check...Clothes? Check." You paced around the house making sure you had everything you needed. Today was the day your foster kid would move in with you. You were so excited to meet her but also nervous at the same time. You had told Ms.Chester and she was beyond happy for you. She let you take the day off so you could spend time with your kid.

Your heart about stopped when there was a knock on your apartment door. You took a deep breath and opened the door. There in front of you stood a lady and with a small child that clung onto her. You politely invited them in. You couldn't yet see the child's face since it was buried into the lady's neck.

"Hi! I'm [Y/n] [L/n], it's nice to meet you," you said to the lady who was holding the girl.

"Nice to meet you too! We are so glad that you're willing to take her in," the lady said.

"Of course!"

"This little gem right here," she said looking at the young girl. "Her name is Nalah," she said to you.

"Nalah, can you say hi?" the lady whispered to her. Slowly, the little girl lifted her head and turned around to meet you. You were in awe by how adorable she was. She had coil-curly light brown hair with a few streaks of blue here and there. Her eyes were bright baby blue and her skin had a natural golden tan to it. You did notice the scar that was permanently on her left cheek, but you still thought that she was the cutest kid you had ever seen.

Instead of speaking, the little girl gave you a small wave with her baby hand.

"Hi Princess," you softly said. "I'm [Y/n], it's nice to meet you," you said to Nalah. She just nodded her head.

Once the caretaker lady left, you gave Nalah a tour of your apartment. You showed her where her room was and then where your room was. Right now, you let her play with some of the toys you bought for her.

"Hey Nalah, are you hungry?" She stopped playing with her toys and looked over to where you were. Hesitantly, she nodded her head. It was around 6:30 pm so you suppose you should start cooking dinner now.

Nalah sat in the living room playing with her toys while you began to cook dinner. You had a good view of the living room from the kitchen so you could keep an eye on her.

Once you finished cooking, you called Nalah to come eat and she obeyed. She left her toys in the living room and cautiously walked to the dinning room. There was a seat for her that also had a booster seat so she could reach the table.

You picked her up and gently sat her in her seat. She sniffed the food in front of her and her face lit up a bit. You made sure to cut up the food for her well enough so she wouldn't choke.

As you began you to eat your food, you notice Nalah not eating hers yet. Instead she was starring at you in silence, taking notice of every detail about you.

"...you're pretty," she stated in soft voice. That was the first time you heard her speak and it was to compliment you. Your heart clutched.

"Aw, thank you angel. Guess what?" She stared at you, waiting for you to continue. "You are pretty too."

The young girl placed a her hand over her left cheek, touching her scar. "I am?" she questioned.

"Yes. I promise you are so beautiful," you exclaimed. She gave you a half smile before looking at her food. She started to eat and then soon enough she was done.

"Looks like someone was hungry," you chuckled out. "Are you full or do you want some more?" you asked her.

She shook her head. "Full," she said in her gently voice. You nodded and began to clean up.

"How about we go give you a bubble bath and then I'll play with you and your toys. Does that sound like a deal?" The little girl nodded.

You were surprised Nalah wasn't asleep by now. It was around 9:30 pm and you were playing with Nalah in her room when you heard someone knocking on the door which caused the small child to jump, scaring her.

"It's okay, someone's just at the door. I'm going to go answer it, I'll be right back, okay?" Once you saw her nod her head, you quickly ran to the the door and answered it.

"Dabi, hey!" you said stepping to the side so he could come inside which he did. He closed the door behind him.

"Hey bookworm," he said with his normal deep voice. "You weren't at work, which wasn't normal, so I came to make sure you were still alive."

"Oh yeah, sorry I forgot to let you know that I was taking the day off."

"How come-" he stopped mid sentence because something caught his eye behind you. You turn around to see a head full of curly hair and blue eyes peeking from the corner of the wall. You looked back at Dabi and gestured your head towards her.

"Dabi, this is Nalah." The small girl gave a small wave at the man. He walked towards her, squatting down to meet her height.

"Hey there, little one," he said patting her head giving her a friendly smile. She took a minute to closely observe the man in front of him. Nalah gently took both hands, placing one hand on her left cheek and placing her other on Dabi's cheek were his burn was. He was surprised by her actions, but allowed her to touch him.

"You have...scar too?" she asked formulating the right words. He said nothing besides nodding his head meaning yes. When she released both her hands, he could clearly see the big scar slashed across her left cheek.

The sight in front of you was too pure. Dabi was gentle with Nalah, even when he spoke, his voice was softer than his usual.

'And I thought he hated kids," you thought to yourself.
