Pov Moon
The weeks passed smoothly. The transformations went well and the checks at St. mungo's were good and I'm a driver on the quidditch team along with Sirius and James is a fighter. We are having breakfast in the great hall when the owl post arrives. An owl flies towards me and Sirius, it is Walburga's owl. He hands us both a letter, then flies back to Slytherin's table and sits down in front of Regulus. I look at the letter as if I was holding a time bomb and then look at Sirius who has the same look on his face. A letter from mother is never good. "What is it?" asks James. "A letter from my mother." Sirius says softly. I open the letter and start reading.
Moon Black
We expect you at home this Christmas for the annual Christmas ball and dinner. We also expect you to dress appropriately and behave properly. So no pranks and other nonsense! You and Sirius have to open the traditional dance this year so make sure you have a date from a good family. You will be picked up at the platform by Jack, listen to him and don't dawdle.
Orion Black
I look at Sirius and then back to the letter. "What do they say to you?" I ask "That we should go to that bauble and that we should take a date for that stupid dance and that we shouldn't play pranks." Sirius says "And with you?" he asks "Same" I say "Who do you want to take with you?" Sirius asks "I don't know, I was actually thinking about skipping this year." I say "And you?" I ask "No idea, I also wanted to skip a year." Sirius says "Why don't you just go together?" asks James "What no really not!" Sirius and I say at the same time. "Don't keep repeating me!" we say at the same time. "Stop!" we say "You're annoying!" we say "Argh!" we say and we laugh.
"We have two weeks to find a date and really nobody is stupid enough to voluntarily go to that stupid ball." Sirius says when we are laughed at. "We're going to play a prank anyway, otherwise I won't survive there!" I say "Of course we're going to play a prank, that's tradition!" Sirius says solemnly. "Guys, what if I go with Moon, just as friends. If that's okay with you?" James suddenly says "I'm fine with it." I say "But you know what you're getting into." "It'll be fine, now just a date for Sirius." says James "Ask Marlene!" Remus says "Okay." Sirius says and he walks over to Marlene.
We're with Smith when Marlene comes in. "Sorry professor, I had to do...something." she says "Sit down." says Smith gruffly. After a few minutes Sirius also enters. "I am something, by the way." he says coolly. The boys and I laugh and Lily gives us a deadly look. "Sit down, but let this be the last time." says Smith. Sirius sits down and Smith continues her lesson.
After drawing on the table for a while, I get bored and dig into my bag for a stink bomb. I grab one and call for Smith. "Catch Professor!" and I throw the stink bomb at her. "The class is finished!" exclaims Smith. "Mrs. Grey, detention! Report to Filch at six!" says Smith "And Potter too!" she calls after it. "I didn't do anything at all!" exclaims James "Sorry James." I say as we walk back to the common room. "It doesn't matter, at least we have to stay in detention together. Besides, as long as we don't have to clean the prize room, it's not that bad at all." James says. "Bet we have to clean that prize room." I say "Yes, probably." says James. We say the password to the fat lady and enter the common room. We all plop on a couch and start chatting.
That evening James and I walk to Filch's office. We stop in front of the door and knock. We walk in without waiting for an answer. "Potter and Grey, you're going to clean the prize room without a wand." Filch says gruffly. "Hand in you wands." Filch says and we hand in our wands.
After hours of cleaning we were on our way back to the common room. "When should you go to St. Mungo's again?" asks James. "Thursday for classes." I answer "Don't we have Smith first?" says James. "Yeah, I was thinking of stretching a bit that we might miss part or all of the lesson." I say. When we stand in front of the common room I say the password and we walk through the portrait hole. We immediately walk to our dormitory and fall asleep with our clothes still on.
When I wake up the next morning I feel terrible. Then I remember it again, tomorrow evening is the full moon. "Argh!" I say "What is it?" asks Peter. "Nothing, just a little tired." I say gruffly "And moody." Sirius mumbles "I can just hear that!" I say "I know." he says "Let's go to the great hall for breakfast." says James and we walk to the great hall.In the great hall we sit next to Lily. "Good morning" she says cheerfully. "Why so cheerful?" I ask "Someone has a morning mood." says Lily. I stare at my plate with sausage and bacon on it. I poke it all the time with my fork. "Are you going to eat something?" Sirius asks "Not hungry" I say simply and I slide my plate away from me. "You must eat something." Sirius says and he pushes my plate back. "But I do not want to." I say and I slide my plate away again. "Let her decide for herself." Remus says. "We have to go to class, by the way, if we don't want to be late." says Lily and we walk to class.We have divination first, well all of us except Lily and Remus they have arithmetic. We walk to the north tower and sit down at a table with the four of us. "Moon, Sirius" James whispers "What is it?" I ask "What is it?!? It's your birthday tomorrow, that should be celebrated!" whispers/screams James "Yeah, it's our birthday tomorrow, but I'm not celebrating." I say "Why not?" asks James. "None of your business." I say "But Sirius does." I say "So let's throw a party or something for him." "No, no party. Just hanging out with the marauders and Lily for class or something." Sirius says and then the bell rings. We walk to the great hall for lunch when James continues to whine about why I don't want to celebrate my birthday.Flashback
It was my birthday and I was going to celebrate it with Sirius for the first time. We were eight years old. Fenrir was eating and Leone was playing with Jack. Fenrir walked into the room and stood next to me. "How about helping out instead of sitting here doing nothing all the time!" he said angrily "I'm not doing nothing I'm drawing!" I said "you're an insufferable know-it-all?!" said Fenrir. "No, I'm just standing on the facts." I said knowing I wouldn't get away with this. "ungrateful wretch!" he said and he takes my arm, rolls up my sleeve and bites my wrist. "Have fun with the rest of your life!" he said, and he laughed triumphantly.
end flashback"I have my reasons for not celebrating my birthday and that's none of your business." I say "Who doesn't celebrate their birthday?" Remus asks as he and Lily approach. "Oh, Moon's birthday is tomorrow but she's not celebrating." Sirius says "Wait, you and Moon have the same birthday?" asks Remus. "Yeah, coincidentally isn't it!" Sirius says "But why don't you celebrate?" asks Remus. "I'm not saying." I say and we sit down at the Gryfindor table and start eating.
