Those words hit harder than Bennett expected. A temporary suspension of all his senses as he stood there, barely breathing, barely blinking, slowly processing the words and their meanings.
He wanted to ask why but the words weren't forming in his throat. He couldn't comprehend what she said to him. He looked to the others. Declan and Jordan sat there with their mouths open, shocked. Kendall looked alarmed, and Gabrielle looked enraged.
Gabrielle stood up, her eyes sharpening on her friend. "Estelle," she grits out. "Don't start this now."
Estelle did something unexpected. She laughed bitterly. "Oh, Gabrielle, just like your father, loyal to the bone, even now you're sticking up for them. Why is that? Don't tell me your afraid of a little conflict,"
Gabrielle clenched her jaw. There was a bluish bruise on one side of her face from the previous fight.
Gabrielle knew Estelle had been harbouring these feelings towards her dad for ages, but it takes a lot for a Frazier to snap like this. She knew Estelle was on the path of destruction, and she wasn't going to back down now.
Gabrielle also knew she would recklessly try to destroy their relationship, too, if she stood in her way. But also, Estelle was right; they had lied to them.
Estelle must have sensed Gabrielle's doubt and smirked. She then turned to Kendall and frowned. "And you, you're speechless for once,"
Kendall's shock turned into hostility. "What did you just say?" She stood up, too, resulting in both Jordan and Declan standing up.
They didn't know why but they knew they needed to be ready if and when the girls decided to stop using their words.
Declan was still trying to process what the girls were talking about; so far, he figured that Estelle didn't like Bennett, that much she had made pretty clear.
He knew that he had some sort of argument with his daughter. But about what?
Jordan assumed Kendall would have the same short fuse he had and was ready to hold her back if things got physical. He still wasn't sure what was happening. His head was still ringing from the headshots he received.
Jordan looked at Kendall; she had a few bruises on her face, a prominent one forming on her forehead. He could see her clenching her fists. He gulped, hoping she wouldn't strike.
"But you referred to us as Musketeers, surely you'd have known where the name came from?" he inquired.
Kendall looked at him. "We thought you guys gave yourself that name in a lame attempt to seem cool,"
The boys all clenched their jaws at the remark.
Estelle could feel the throbbing of her left eye, one of the assailants managed to land a hit on her. She looked at up her dad and silently cursed. He had a similar bruise under his left eye.
She hated even now; how they looked alike with their bruises. She hated how much she could see herself in him. She must have been glaring at him because he looked right at her and then away.
Estelle looked back to Kendall and Gabrielle as if the boys weren't there. "Wasn't it you guys who wanted to sort things out with them? How are you planning on doing that without acknowledging what they've done?"
"There's a time and place for that talk, and it's not right now. We've just been attack-"
"No, this is the time. What's the point in coming back if we don't discuss it now," Estelle looked to Kendall again. "Weren't you the one livid at your dad just the other day for yelling at you,"
Jordan looked to Kendall, questioning what happened. Kendall was looking down. When Jordan went to touch her shoulder, she looked up and glared at him, making him drop his arm.
"I suppose you're right,"
Estelle looked back at Gabrielle, knowing she would be tougher to convince. "And you, isn't there anything you want to discuss with your dad? Anything at all,"
Bennett didn't know what to say to stop Estelle. He didn't know her enough to tell her what to do, even if he was her father. He could sense she wasn't going to listen to him. He only wondered what went down between them.
Gabrielle glared down at Estelle. "You have no right," she said lowly.
"Sure, we won't talk about it then. I'm sure you don't want Declan fainting at the thought of his little girl-"
Gabrielle shoved Estelle. The boys moved to grab them.
"Hey, cut it out!"
"Girls, c'mon!"
"Stop it!"
Kendall was in between the girls pushing them away from each other.
"That's enough!" She barked. Her dark eyes were sharp, and staring down at both her friends.
"Gabrielle, take Declan upstairs." She turned to Estelle. "And you, take Bennett into the kitchen," She then turned to the boys. "We do have a lot to discuss, but it should be done privately."
The two girls glared at each other before walking away with their dads, who didn't protest.
Only Jordan and Kendall remained.
