Mick T rolled down the window. "What is it?" The tire's flat." Bill replied, upset. By this point all the Stones were awake. They all looked at Bill. "We're gonna have to stay here in the car tonight. I'll figure this out in the morning." Bill said sadly. He hopped back in the car, locking the door. Everyone fell asleep, not knowing what would happen next.

Day 3
7:00 am
The Stones got up early today, to face a large problem; the tire. Their surroundings were bland, just grassy hills with no trees. Now that it was lighter, Bill could get a better look at the tire, and figure out how to fix it. Bill got out of the car to inspect the tire. He looked out onto the tall grass, and then he heard it. Moaning, zombie moaning. Not just one, there must have been hundreds of zombies calling to one another. He saw them through the grass, hiding in the shade. Then one looked at him. He stood there, petrified, as the zombie growled, getting the attention of the other zombies. They started to stagger towards him. "Bill! Get in the car!" Mick snapped, realizing what was happening. The zombies got closer, but Bill didn't move. No, couldn't move. He was frozen with fear. Charlie jumped out of the car and grabbed Bill, pulling him out of the reach of a zombie and into the car. The zombie's hand made contact with the sunlight and burned right off. At this point, the Stones knew they couldn't get hurt in the sun. The zombie howled in pain, which scared the others zombies away. Now they were moaning in the distance. Bill recovered from his shock and got out of the car, grabbed the spare tire from the back, and in ten minutes he had fixed the tire. They were on the road again.
"How many were there?" Ronnie asked, pointing to the tall grass where the zombies moaned. "A lot. Hundreds at least." Bill answered, shivering at the memory.
"Wow." Ronnie said in awe. "Can we get the radio on? Those zombie moans are quite annoying." Mick asked. "Sure." Keith replied, turning on the radio. They just sat there with the radio softly playing in the background, lost in their thoughts. The car ride was pretty quiet from here.

Eventually, they stopped for lunch, still in the prairie. "This is where we're stopping?" Mick asked, disappointed. "Yes." Bill answered. Mick groaned, to which Bill said, "Would you rather sit in the car and eat stale bread?" "No." Mick said, losing the fight. Everyone stepped out of the car. "We're eating there." Charlie said, pointing to the large oak tree sitting on a hill. A small trail led up to it. Mick T and Bill set up the picnic, as the others watched hungrily. They ate their sandwiches silently. "Whew, hot out today." Ronnie said, wiping the sweat from his forehead. "Let's go over there. The breeze will cool you off." Mick said, motioning for him to follow. Mick T and Keith also decided to come with them. They went behind the tree and sat in it's shadow, the breeze blowing in their faces. Ronnie and Mick talked about a wide variety of subjects, with Keith interjecting every once in a while. Mick T laid down in the grass, listening to the sounds around him. Eventually, they all quieted. Just sat and admired the landscape. Mick T grew tired of laying his head in the grass, so he moved it onto Mick's thigh. Mick looked down at him and smiled, stroking his head, before looking out on the landscape. "How excited are you guys for the coast place?" Ronnie asked curiously.  "I'm pretty excited, glad it's a place with no zombies." Mick answered. "What he said." Keith added. Mick T stayed silent. "And what about you, lil' Mick?" Ronnie asked playfully. "I'm happy about it, I still miss the old house though." Mick T answered glumly. "We all do, but this place will be safer. We'll have our own house I'm sure!" Keith said assuredly. "Good point." Mick T said quietly. Mick looked down at Mick T again, caressing him gently. Keith and Ronnie walked away from them to smoke and talk.
The afternoon breeze got cooler and the weather was more comfortable. Bill and Charlie were making decisions on the trip.
"If we go there, that cuts down on stops." Bill proposed. "But that will take longer. Going here is less driving and we can stop for the night." Charlie reasoned. Bill thought for a moment. "Good point." He finally said. "I think that's enough planning for today." Charlie said happily as he lay down in the grass. Bill sighed in relief and lay beside Charlie. They said nothing, just stared at the sky. At the clouds, how they layered so perfectly in the bright blue sky. Bill rested his head on Charlie's shoulder, still silent. A moment to be remembered.
3:30 pm
"Okay everyone, back in the car!" Bill announced. They all got into the car. The atmosphere in the car was content, and everyone was tired. Mick T rested on Mick, nodding off as Mick held him close. The afternoon soon turned to evening, and they drove on, eating a snack dinner of bread with pesto spread. I just rhymed there, pretty cool. Back to the story, Ronnie ate eagerly as Mick gently woke Mick T from his nap. "Darling, it's dinner time." "Okay." Mick T said drowsily. He ate quickly, soon going back to sleep in Mick's arms. Soon everyone was asleep except for Bill, who was driving. The sun dipped behind the rolling hills and the stars began to twinkle in the sky. A day that had started in worry and confusion had ended in a peaceful way. That was something the Stones would have to get used to.
