A distorted voice is all Y/N heard when she awoke from unconscious. How much time had passed? A couple of minutes? A couple of hours? She honestly couldn't tell. She knew her eyes were open but she could only see the darkness. It enveloped her vision. She strained to hear something and once again, she heard a distorted voice talking.
"uoY did a taerg boj, niatpaC. sihT luos lliw eb hguone. ruoY snos lliw niag rieht imes-ytilatrommi." (You did a great job, Captain. This soul will be enough. Your sons will gain their semi-immortality.)
Y/N could hear someone, most likely a woman, reply in a sheep-like bah. She didn't understand what the voice had said but one thing was clear. She was in danger.
It seems that Y/N's breath quickened while merely thinking about the bad situation she could be in because she could hear the cla-clonking of someone nearing where she was. Almost like the someone nearing her had hooves of some sort. Mentally, Y/N started to narrow the list of people she knew that had hoof-like feet. She heard the distorted voice speak again.
"s'tI a emahs yllaer. fI I t'ndah edam eht laed htiw uoy, niatpaC, I dluow evah nekat siht namow yawa morf yawa morf siht ytilaer ot eb ym efiw." (It's a shame really. If I hadn't made the deal with you, Captain, I would have taken this woman away from this reality to be my wife.)
Y/N squirmed, trying to get away. She felt the texture of something like sheep wool brush up against her arm. Hoof-like feet, wool-like texture, the respond of something like a bah. Gods, did Y/N hope she was wrong with the assumption she was about the make.
"Puffy, is that you..?"
Y/N heard a sigh and the clattering of metal against the ground. She felt the blindfold removed from her eyes to see who she hoped was not there. Captain Puffy, Foolish's mom, and the one person that had fit all the clues that were floating around in mid-air. That did leave a question though. Why did Puffy do this? Y/N could feel tears run down her face. She forced herself to chirp out the question.
"Why..?"
Puffy looked at Y/N, pain shining in the sheep's eyes. The woman's rainbow hair, all curly and wool-like, swayed when the woman turned head away from the crow hybrid's gaze.
"I'm sorry, Y/N. XD over here offered that if I kill you, he'll give my sons the ability to never die. Of course, if you were to be revived or something after your death, the effect would go away and they would be fully mortal once more. But I won't have to worry about that. Just know that your death is for my sons."
Puffy started to walk away from Y/N, presumably to get something. That's when Y/N cried out the words that had risen to her mind.
"But what about my sons?! They still need their Mama! They're only one year old for heavens sake! I can't die while they're still so young!"
Y/N could really feel the tears running down her face now. Everything. Everything in her entire world always came back around to her family, especially her sons. Gods, she was hoping nothing was happening at home right now.
Puffy looked back at Y/N, an apologetic look on her face.
"I'll make sure that Foolish or someone else takes good care of them..."
Y/N felt a scream of anguish escape her lips. She was gonna die. And her sons might never truly get to know their mother. She didn't want to die. That meant that she couldn't protect them. And that's all she wants to do. She wants to protect Tommy and Tubbo. She wants to stay by their side. She wants to stay by Foolish's side as well. She doesn't want to leave them either. Dying would mean leaving them behind.
Puffy opened the cabinet, grabbing something that seemed to have a glint to it. A flint and steel to be exact. The sheep woman knew that if she killed Y/N with her own hands, everyone would know. So she needed to kill Y/N in a way that people wouldn't know what had happened. Fire was an easy answer.
Puffy scratched the flint and steel together, a spark flying off of the materials. The ropes that held Y/N's hands together caught fire. Everything in the base started to catch fire. Puffy had exited the building the moment the first spark flew.
Everything burned. Her skin. Her wings. Everything that was apart of her physical being burned. She was burning alive. And it hurt so much. Not because she was dying. But because she couldn't stay around long enough to watch her boys grow up. The tears that ran down her face did nothing to stop the flames.
When Y/N looked up, she saw a woman who couldn't be anything less than a goddess. The woman's facial features were covered with a black veil. The woman wore a long, flowing black dress covered in black, wilting roses. The woman had such a calming aura about her. Her curly, brown hair draped from her shoulders. She sat down near Y/N and laid the girl's head on her lap.
"Worry not, Little Crow. You are safe now. You are with me. The most you can do is hope Philza protects his grandsons. You are with me. You are safe. You can fly around in the afterlife, Little Crow."
Y/N calmed down in her last moments, even if it was just a bit. This woman would keep her safe. The woman was right. The most Y/N could do was pray for her boys' safety. And so, Y/N closed her eyes. And the Goddess of Death enveloped the girl in a hug as she took her last breath.
"I'm... sorry..."
