SCARLETT
"Ma'am, this way please. This will be your cabin for the entire tenure here.", Linda who earlier today, introduced herself as my assistant, apprised me of my new working space.
"Nice. Good balance of shades in the walls.", I commended the ambience of the room, looking all over the brightly lit space. Now this is also kind of too bright... but I know better than to sound rude.
"Thank you Ma'am. Sir is about to arrive. You could meet him in his office in ten minutes."
I nodded and she left saying, "And Ma'am, please refrain from saying that to Sir. Um... he hates peach color, and you might hate it if he's pissed. Excuse me."
This Sir sounds scarier than Sauron. Ahh, I'm wonderful with alliterations! And as unhealthy as it might sound, I'm obsessed with them, since the 'Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers' phase of my life.
Back to work.
The company where I introduce myself as marketing head, has shifted me, if not shoved me here for two months. The white tiled floor where I currently stand belongs to the headquarters of our company's new partners.
The deal being very important for my boss, he decided that I'll be sent here to work on our behalf along with few others of our marketing team.
I already had an ongoing project there, yet he ordered me to work on this one, so you could imagine its significance.
Being the head of our team, I've been given a private cabin here. Now it's time to see our business partner, who, I heard from a colleague, is a handsome walking specimen of hotness.
But what's the use of such hotness if I can't even make coffee on him. Y'all have my respect kitchen stoves.
Let's meet him and get to know the hottie's standards. Only then will I feel eligible to judge the man over drinks with Amy, guilt-free. I got into the elevator already occupied by a woman of nearly my age and pressed the button for the top floor.
I've already met the CMO of this company, who happens to be a sweet man in his forties. Like he's really very sweet. Even if you punch him in the ribs he'll say, Oh dear, thanks for sparing my face.
He has to leave for Singapore tonight for two months to take care of our campaign in Asia, another reason why I'm here. Though I would've preferred switching places with him had I been offered a choice.
"New here?", the lady said a minute later. Hm... overconfident as her grin suggests, nosy too. Well ladies like her are the real chargers of the corporate world. All you gotta do is spend a moment with them and you'll be equipped with gossips from Earth to Mars, meant obviously to pass ahead despite the false 'don't tell anyone' disclaimer.
Let's see what this one's got.
"Yes, kind of a temporary staff.", I smiled.
"I noticed you're off to the top floor, The Lion's Den as we call it.", she chuckled. I swear, this one's crazier than I thought, eccentric even.
"Any specific reason for calling it that?", I asked with raised brows.
"The floor contains a dangerous but hot man...", why is she telling this as if narrating a horror story? Weird!
"...just a glare of whom is enough to chill anyone's spine. Now although this one belongs to the top paying companies in the city, the handsome CEO is the devil reincarnated. The man's hobbies are petrifying employees, firing them often and the most dangerous of all... angrily smashing articles while alone."
