AARON

A day before my birthday, my father was out in California with his old friends, for a trip. Kind of a reunion of oldies.

There he made another new rich friend at a golf club, who happened to be Scarlett's father. That night, when a wedding discussion fair was being held at my house, I was busy texting my father.

Why text, you ask. Well, that was a measure to avoid verbal arguments and save my phone from being smashed by angry me, suggested by my dear Mom. His words are more acidic than his texts, I swear.

That time, he informed that he was at Mr. Walter's house for dinner, who was offering his team to help us with our marketing campaign.

I accepted the offer and the team arrived a week ago, with strict orders from Mr. Walter, not to disclose their parent company to Scarlett. I guess she might not have seen those people before, as she didn't seem even a bit suspicious.

The reason Mr. Walter gave me for this was, he wanted to surprise Scarlett. I agreed, or had to agree, you know why.

Denying Scarlett's father would mean being at odds with my own father, that in turn would mean, being thrown out of my own house most probably, and having to spend nights at my penthouse. That isn't bad, but after that, Mom sending Dylan to irritate and send me back is really worst.

Dad just invited Mr. Walter on the stage and I know exactly why. Scarlett is going to be over the moon in a few minutes.

"Hey, are they really going to announce anything like our wedding?", she asked me in terror.

"You knew I was kidding when I said that, right? You are overthinking. My parents could never even think about setting me up with a creature like you."

"I agree, creatures called humans aren't actually fit for you. Now at least for once, keep your cockiness aside. I'm literally afraid."

"What is to be afraid of in it?", I asked.

"Last time my dad announced something, I had to leave my house.", she bit her lips.

"Don't worry, this time you're already out of it.", I gave him a playful smile, vexing her more.

"Not funny.", she hissed.

"Ladies and Gentleman,", Mr. Walter started, "I'm grateful to my dear friend Thomas, for letting me the opportunity to address you all. I'm here to make an important announcement on this delightful occasion.

We all witnessed the arrival of a revolutionizing technology today. So, I first congratulate Aaron, Alex and whole of the FuTech and the Sinclair corps. for this achievement. I would also like to congratulate my daughter, who was the marketing head of this project, the reason for which I stand here today.

I'm so proud of her. She could've stayed behind and worked for her own company, but she chose the hard way to polish herself. And today, with due consent of Thomas,", he looked at Dad, smiled and then his gaze settled on Scarlett, "at this event, I announce my daughter Scarlett as the new CEO of Walter Marketeers."

As he said those words, the room filled with applause and loud cheers. All eyes were on the person beside me, who I know was shocked to the core, but kept up the calm and modest expression.

To my surprise, she had a smile on, but for the world. Her eyes told me a different story, with emptiness storming in the grey sea.

Well, fun fact, I don't know since when have I become proficient in reading eyes! Like seriously? I'm reading eyes!

All cameras in the room flashed on Scarlett, who is really like an enigma. I could sense as if she doesn't desire any of it. She isn't greedy for authority, she clearly wants something else.
