CHAPTER 9: investigating

"The closer you look, the less you see"
-"What if it's someone we know, someone we trust, the least expected person to be the murderer ".i said.
-" i dont know, maybe asking for the cameras tomorrow will help . The murderer really wanted me to go to jail, to be the number 1 suspect ".
-" yeah..."
-" what's wrong?"
-" I'm still thinking about that sentence your father wrote... i dont know, it sounds familiar"
-"ohh... i hope we will find out soon. Also my friends are coming over"
-" i know, alex just told me"
-" you talk to Alex?..."
-" mhm, he's funny"
-" oh... cool"
Awkward silence... until someone knocks at the door, it was his friends , Emma, Alex,Leo and Kevin. We chatted , ordered some food , played video games..
I was chatting with Alex, since the rest was playing :
-" i ship you and Emma IWSJWKKAKW"
- " nonono- she likes someone else ..."
-" really? Who?"
-"Lucas... they are getting closer i bet they will start dating soon"
-" oh"
Second awkward silence of the day.
-" anyways tomorrow we are going to a restaurant after school, are you coming?" Asked me Alex
-" yeah probably "
Then it was his turn to play, Lucas just finished playing, he came to sit next to me putting his arm around me
-" you play video games chica?" He asked me
- " yeah, but not a big fan"
-" oh okay... anyways yall, lets play truth or dare"
"Cool I'll start" leo said.
" kim , truth or dare"
- truth
-" when was your first kiss?"
-" yesterday "
Lucas smirked... i look at him and laughed
-" ohh i see what u too did" alex said while laughing
Emma was looking at me up and down , Leo seemed unamused, everyone else was laughing.
" my turn" lucas said
" Leo , truth or dare"
- truth
" who are u attracted to in this room?"
Lucas still seemed mad at Leo , from what happened yesterday at the party
-" kim "
The only thing i could hear was an " ouuuuw"
"My turn" i said
- Alex truth or dare
-" dare"
- " ask the person u like here to go on a date with you "
- "Emma, are u free tonight, 7pm?"
" ouuuuuw"
- yes , i guess . She replied
I started laughing and Alex hit me with a pillow
"My turn", kevin said
" leo truth or dare"
- dare
-" choose a person that you will take on a date , tonight "
- " no he isn't going to choose, the game is over " Lucas interrupted them
He grabbed my hand ,stood up and told them we need to go
Everyone was confused, they all left, Lucas took me to the car
- " what the heck just happened? And Where are we going?" I asked him
- " he was about to take you on a date"
- " and ? Why did u do that? I wasn't even going to accept to go i don't like him"
He looked at me for few seconds then smiled
" we're going to the library, we can't ask the principal for the cameras today since its sunday, but the library is always opened so we can investigate "
- " okay cool"
This guy is really weird and confusing
-" do u like Emma?" I asked
-" we're good friends, but i don't trust her a lot, not really interested... why?"
-" nothing "
-" okay..."
We arrived at school, of course there was nobody there , it's Sunday. We went to the library , couldn't find anything that might help. Then i suggested to go to the history class, the crime scene.
I observed the place for few minutes until i see the projects , that students made, on the wall.
" the closer you look , the less you see"
-" Lucas , LOOK"
-" omg , that's what it means"

-" maybe that's what he wanted us to do , what makes you see clips and actions from far away and to what's around it ?" I said
-" CAMERAS"
- "exactly . Maybe he wanted us to go check the cameras , the only camera here is the one next to the library, we need to check it tomorrow "
- " this is way too easy, what if we skipped something?" He asked
-" what do you mean?"
-" what if its way more complicated, more than just «  one picture ». Look at things from a distance. We think it's the murderer who took my book, and was in the library. What if we got it all wrong? What if it's not 1 but 2 murderers? We really need to check those cameras."
- " we have no solid proof, we have to wait until tomorrow morning to ask the director."
-" okay fine" he replied.
-" can i borrow some books before we leave "
-" for a sec i forgot i was hanging out with a nerd, go ahead "
-" shut up" i said, then hit him with a book .
He smiled then jumped at me
-" what do you want-"
He interrupted me with a kiss

"Lucas we should go-"
"Fine"
We went back home, getting ready for tomorrow
