3. To Save a Powerless

Isn't this supposed to be a time of joy? We have a new member that hopefully would consider us family one day and I got to meet the man I have been a fan of for years. I even had the opportunity to hang out with everyone. Why did it turn out like this.

"Answer me! Where's the rest of your gang of crazies?" I heard Akali scream after slapping the girl we restrained.

"You cannot stop the will of god." Answered the girl before cackling.

I then turned my attention towards the two girls who were crying over y/n. I went towards them and after holding back my tears at the sight of his broken body, I gently took hold of their shoulders.

"Girls I understand that you want to stay by his side, but we really need to get him to a hospital." I told them before Seraphine glared at me.

"Why? So they can try to kill him too?" She said spitefully.

"Huh? What do you mean?" I asked confused.

"These guys might be from the cult of the void, but it's not the first time someone hospitalized y/n. Well, to that extent it is." She said before wiping her eyes. "The hospitals here are only equipped to deal with mana users. When we got there with y/n last time, they recommended that we just let him die."

Eve and I flared our mana in anger at this. Such cruelty right under our noses and we never bothered to look.

"Why didn't we act sooner." I mumbled to myself but she seemed to have heard me as she shook her head.

"If I knew that they were with the cult, I would have. The problem is that y/n texted me when he was called out, telling me not to do anything."

"Why?" I asked shaken.

"I don't know, but y/n had always prioritized my life in every aspect over his." She said with a bittersweet laugh. "In fact, there was this one time where I defended him from a similar situation. Of course it never got as far as this. As you might expect, rumors about me supporting the powerless started going around the academy which earned me a stern talking from y/n, saying that I shouldn't act like that in public or this might happen again. I didn't understand at the time what he meant by again." She started to rub a part of his arm that didn't look too injured.

"The couple of weeks that followed, he spent his time acting as if I was the one who beat him. This brought back the support that the other students had for me and the rumors died down overtime. I asked him why he would do that for me. All he answered was that he didn't want me to be punished for being friends with him."

We heard Evelynn chuckle after she said that.

"Sounds like him alright." She mumbled.

"Look Eve, we've given you your space since yesterday, but I think it's time that you told us a bit about your relation with him." I told her which made all the other girls turn towards her.

"What? Lady Evelynn was tainted by this-" Started the blue haired cultist before Akali knocked her out.

The rapper shrugged. "She's a lost cause anyway. Now come on Eve, spill it."

"Can we please save him first?" Asked the succubus making our eyes widen.

"Right... powerless can die from that..." muttered our shinobi with a guilty look.

"First, we should get him back to his senses." Said Kai'Sa after being silent for so long. "His mind seemed to have shut off after they destroyed his laptop."

Evelynn and Seraphine gained a sad look on their face after she said that. As if they knew why.

"Luckily, I found this." Said our dancer while showcasing a rectangular, metallic object.
