"Don't wander off too far Evelynn! The Wardens are being pretty aggressive now that this damn cult is on the run." Exclaimed my father as I left the house for a stroll around the city.
"I get it dad. I'll be careful." I said while raising my hood over my head, trying to hide my demonic features as best as I could.
Mom said that I will be able to create a human disguise at some point, but I'm 16 and I still can't! People at school make fun of me because of my demonic appearance. I heard that vastyans are looked down upon in some countries yet here only people like me are. Maybe it's because we don't look as human as they do. Because of that, I have been alone for as long as I can remember. Yet...
"Didn't I have a friend at some point?"
My breath was suddenly forced out of my lungs as I ran into someone, making us both fall onto the ground.
"Ouch, I'm sorry." Said whoever ran into me.
"A kid?" I asked myself after hearing the voice.
"Watch where you're going next... time?" My sentence slowed down once I noticed his state of clothing.
A (h/c) haired kid with (e/c) eyes who had dirty, torn up clothes was slowly standing up in front of me. He dusted off his clothes before reaching a hand out to help me up.
"Sorry again, I live not far from here. I've seen you wander around a couple of times and noticed that you looked lonely. Wanna be friends?" He asked with a weak smile.
My eyes widened at his last question.
"Friends?" My mind then remembered the kids at school who made fun of me. "As if I'd believe that."
I smacked his hand away making him flinch before he gazed at one of the houses next to mine.
"Oh, have your neighbors moved out?" He asked while pointing at the sign in front of it.
"Do you just ask stupid questions or are you the stupid one?" I harshly asked.
His face slowly drained from emotions which strangely made my heart ache for a second.
"Right, sorry." He said before walking away.
"Weird ass kid." I thought to myself before walking in the opposite direction.
"Huh?" I suddenly said once I noticed that a tear had fallen from my eyes.
I wiped it away and without looking back, I went on my usual stroll around town. As much as I hated the people here, there was something about the fact that life continued in this toxic place that made the sceneries so beautiful to me. I loved to wander the streets with my camera to take pictures of unique sights down here. Yet, I always found myself looking upwards towards the light that came from Piltover.
"One day, I'll be the one up there looking downwards."
My attention was suddenly caught by a familiar figure in the corner of my eyes. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that it was the same kid from earlier that was rummaging through one of the many scrap yards that linger down here.
"He's gonna find someone's stupid invention and kill himself if he continues being so reckless." I thought to myself in slight worry. "Why do I care? He's just some stupid kid."
I was about to leave when I noticed the look on his face. It was empty, void of emotions like a wandering husk. It was so different from the little smiles he was giving me earlier.
I unconsciously started walking in his direction before stopping when his eyes subtlety lit up after he seemed to have found something. With a bit of force, he pulled out what looked like a banged up guitar that somehow still looked playable. He spent the next couple of minutes tuning it as I, for some reason, just watched him do it. Once he was done, he picked up a random bucket that was near him, sat on it then set the guitar on his lap.
