Once, in the lovely town of Sparthens, there was a man named Theodore. Sparthens was a great town to live in, and everyone who lived there was friendly. Theodore loved waffles. He ate them for breakfast, lunch and sometimes dinner. He was a kind, smart, and helpful person. One of his skills was making a waffle in less than 23 seconds. His goal in life was to win Harvey's Diner and Cafe's annual waffle eating contest. It was coming up for Theo in about 3 weeks.
There was one creature who wanted to make sure that Theodore did not win the contest. His name was Le Bread, the French piece of bread. He thought of a plan to keep Theo from winning. He told a local squirrel to join the competition and beat Theodore. He had the squirrel pour water onto Theodore's plate before the contest.
Tiganetio was the god of breakfast. He could make a waffle in less than 3 seconds, eat 57 pancakes in 5 seconds, and he could eat 572 boxes of cereal in 7 seconds. He wanted to help Theodore win the waffle eating contest because he did not like what Le Bread was up to.
The contest was this day. Before it began, the mischievous squirrel poured 50 milliliters of water onto Theodore's plate. When the contest started, Theodore realized that something was wrong. "What is happening to my waffles?" he asked to himself. He could not eat the delicious food on his plate very well. He should have never eaten the soggy waffles. He would lose the contest if a miracle did not happen. He silently prayed to Tiganetio for deus ex machina. Deus ex machina is a phrase which means, a miracle to happen to solve an unsolvable problem or puzzle. In this case, it means Tiganetio giving a substance to get rid of the water from the waffles. Tiganetio saw what was happening. He quickly ran to a nearby tree. He smashed into into tiny pieces, and from the pieces dripped a sticky liquid. Syrup dripped quickly into a cup, that Tiganetio had sent down to Theodore. "Thanks!" Theo called up to the immortal being. Theo was feeling sick, but when he put the sticky syrup onto his waffle, they were ready to eat. They also tasted much better. He was behind the squirrel in the race by about 5 waffles, but he had the advantage of the syrup. It encouraged him to eat quicker. Soon he caught up to the squirrel. Then, after 45 more minutes of munching, he had won the contest. Harvey walked up to him and awarded him with a shiny medal. The squirrel sadly left to go tell Le Bread his bad news. "Le Bread!" he cried, "Tiganetio helped Theodore win the contest!" The French Pain was infuriated. He filled up with rage and was heated into toast. The French Toast's ex-accomplice looked at the delicious snack and couldn't help but eat it up.
Theodore had loved the syrup so much, that he asked Tiganetio how he made it. After Tiganetio taught him, Theo started a syrup selling business with his aunt. To this day, we still put syrup from trees on our waffles. We also love to eat the delicious French toast created by Le Bread. And as for the for the squirrel, he had learned that sometimes, evil companions bring more profit than pain.
