(Thea's POV)
Nico leads us down several halls of darkness, when we finally reach a room at the back of the castle. The door to this room was normal-sized compared to the others and wasn't at all flashy with crystals and lights.
"This is my room, we will bunk in here." Nico opens the door leading us in.
"Um, Nico, aren't there other rooms we can sleep in? We are in an enormous castle." Piper asks as she walks in.
"No, there is not. When Persephone is down here, she invites company. That's why I never come down here around this time of year."
My eyes trail around the room, it's a big room, with huge windows and a king-sized bed on the back wall. Other than the bed, dresser, and mirror in the room, it was completely empty.
"So Nico, what do you do when down here? Hang out with the ladies?" Leo grins at Nico, which leads to Nico pushing Leo away by his face.
"I plan your death." Leo's eyes widen and his mouth drops as Piper giggles. I guess Nico is pretending as if nothing happened earlier, I would do the same if I was him. My eyes fall on Nico who was now rubbing his red eyes, letting out a small yawn.
"Nico?" He looks up at me but looks back down quickly trying not to meet my eyes.
"I'm fine, Thea." He whispers it while leaving the room.
I look over at Piper who is now making a makeshift bed on the ground. She looks up smiling.
"Let's leave the bed for Nico for tonight." Both me and Leo nod before collapsing from exhaustion.
In the middle of the night, my eyes shoot open to the sound of the creaking bed. I jump awake sitting straight up, reaching for my ax, but stopping at the sight of Nico glaring out the window from his seat on the bed. His brown eyes fell on me, he eyes me up and down before smiling. What is this guy thinking?
"Sorry to wake you." He whispers before looking out the window again.
"Nico? Are you sure you're okay?" I whisper. This grabs his attention, he looks at Leo then Piper before patting the bed in front of him. Does he want me to sit with him? I sit up slowly trying to avoid waking Piper who was fast asleep next to me. I tiptoe my way over, stopping in front of him. Looking down at his crazy, unruly black hair.
"Sit." He whispers again. I take my seat next to him, making sure to not get anywhere close to him on the bed.
"Thank you for earlier, Thea." His eyes leave the window again, finding their way to mine. He lets out a small smile before running his fingers through his hair.
"Where were you? I mean, like when you left." My eyes begin to grow heavy but I force them to stay open.
"I was just talking with Hades. I finally got some more confidence." He eyes his hands which were shaking. He hasn't been eating.
"Oh, did you get through to him." He smiles, leaning back against the back of the bed.
"Somewhat, but I feel like there is alot more needed to be said."
"How did Bianca and your mom...pass?" He goes stiff, his eyes meeting mine. "Sorry no, you don't have to tell me." He shakes his head.
"No, it's fine. I lost my mom at a very young age. Zeus was angry with Hades and wanted both me and Bianca dead so he shot down a lightning bolt but it missed and killed my mother." He sighs before continuing. "And Bianca, we were just saved by Percy and the others when the hunters came and got her to take the oath to be a hunter. So she went on the quest with Percy and got herself killed." Nico's hands cover his face now.
"Sucks, doesn't it?" He looks up with wide eyes.
"Wow, where's the 'im sorry Nico' or an 'it'll be alright'?" Nico's face is serious when he says this.
"You've heard that your whole life, it doesn't make you feel any better." He smiles now.
"Yeah it doesn't, it makes me feel like crap." He starts laughing now, making a smile grow on my face.
"Finally, someone who gets me," I say making Nico laugh even more. Nico now clutches his stomach, letting out more loud giggles. He looks up at me now, his eyes squinting shut because of the huge smile he held. I like this Nico.
"Nico, are you okay? Is that a smile I see? I heard those are very dangerous and contagious." He goes frozen before jumping from his seat grabbing me in his arms. He reaches around me, hugging me hard with his face against my shoulder.
"Thank you." He whispers, letting out a sigh. My eyes focus on the window, trying to not blush. His arms go limp, and his breath evens. He fell asleep. I slowly lay him back down, making sure to tuck him in tight. His face is so calm when he sleeps. I look away from Nico, collapsing at the end of the bed from exhaustion.
(Percy's POV)
"Mom?" I collapse once in the door. I see Mom run down the hall falling to her knees.
"Percy? Darling, what happened?" She holds my face now in her hands.
"Camp borders aren't working." Her eyes widen.
"Wheres Annabeth and the others?" She asks helping me up.
"Annabeth is at a hospital, frost...bite" a shiver runs down my spine again as I think of Annabeth's blue face.
"Alright, let's get you warmed up before going to see her." Mom drags me to the living room, placing me on the couch giving me a blanket.
"Why did you not come home after summer break?" She hands me a warm cup of tea before sitting down next to me.
"I had to help out since there was a new quest and the boarders started not working." She nods and smiles slightly.
"I understand."
