As soon as the two boys left Heejin to her own accords she started searching around the room.

Finding random things everywhere.

Bouncy balls, empty cans, full bottles of alcohol, empty bags, and random books. It was a bit gross but she didn't mind it was a room.

Slowly making her way to the window Heejin opened it. Outside was a rusty fire escape, all she didn't think twice before stepping on it and sitting down. Breathing in the fresh air and looking up at the star covered sky brought peacefulness, something that wasn't present very much in Heejin's life.

To her, life made her feel like she was always on the run and she should never look back because that's when you start to lose your pace and slow down. She wasn't able to be herself, it was always about behaving and being who her mother wanted her to be. Her brother never had a problem fitting in and it bothered the girl, he was always the perfect child, something she always strived to be never achieved it.

Living her life was something Heejin always wanted, she wanted to feel alive and live the way she wanted, to not have to be bound to any rules, and maybe here at District Nine is the place to live her life.

Without Heejin noticing tears fell down her cheeks slowly, she just closed her eyes not bothering to wipe them. She just thought of her future and what it might hold for her. It might be for the best she stays here and that she never goes back home. It might take some of the stress off her back.

Leaning her head on the wall behind her Heejin smiled, an actual somewhat genuine smile. It might not have been to anything specific, but it was still a smile and that was what mattered.

Eyes getting heavy and not wanting to get up Heejin fell asleep on the fire escape.

Tears streamed down the younger girls face. Yells were heard outside her room, the first place she thought to hide was the closet, cliché right?

"Choi Heejin! How on Earth did you get a 53 on your mathematics test?!" she heard her mom yelling, trying to get into the young girls room. "Open this door Heejin! You'll get in more trouble!"

Heejin complied not wanting to get into more trouble then she already was. "I didn't mean to, the topic was hard" the hiccupped out.

"Why aren't you like your brother? He's a straight A student!" the comparisons have started. "You're a disgrace next to him Choi Heejin!"

All she did was stand there, if she talked back who knows what would happened.

"You need to step it up or I'm going to send you to District Nine!" her mother threatened.

That was the first threat to send Heejin to the so called place called District Nine, she didn't know what it was she was only 11 years old at the time anyways.

More complaints and insults were thrown her way from her mother, words such as untalented, dumb, ugly, and more unwanted names.

Jolting up Heejin was breathing heavy feeling for a solid surface around her, tears streaming down her face. The memories of her childhood all coming back to her in a flash.
