I'm scared.

I'm not supposed to be eligible for the hunger games.

I'm only 9.

This morning my dad told me "you won't get picked, your name is only in there once" I guess he has a point, I mean it's not like some of the 18year olds who have there name in the reaping bowl 26 times. But there is always a chance I could get picked.

Out escort Perry Silt struts on stage. And walks over to the microphone,

"Welcome, welcome happy hunger games, now let's get started. As usual ladies first"

Perry floats her hand above the names for what feels like forever I feel at just screaming "hurry up" at her but I'm not stupid so I keep my mouth shut.

Once she finally pulls a name out she walks back to the microphone and calls out "Jazmine Parks"

No no no no no no no I'm in the hunger games

I'm going to be dead in a few weeks.

Why did it have to be me.

I am woken out of my thought by Perry saying "now for the men

Wait what if my dad is picked. Please no, I pray

"Sammy Morris" thank god it's not my dad.

But my heart does break when I see that he is even younger than me, he's got to be only 7 years old.

When I hear my name being called I instantly feel terrified, I thought I was safe I mean I'm the youngest age you can be to enter this murder game.

I have already decided in my mind that I will die as soon as the Games begin.

And it doesn't help that my district partner is only 9.

Maybe Jazmine will form an alliance with me.

Peacekeepers guide us to two separate rooms where we can say goodbye to our families one last time but I don't need this time since I'm an orphan, I have been since I was 2months old, my mother died giving birth to me and my father decided he couldn't take care of me by himself so he gave me up.

After a few of my friends from the orphanage come and say goodbye it's time to board the train.

I have only heard stories about how amazing it is but now I will get to witness it myself.
