Techno clashed his pickaxe against Quackity's axe, he had some iron armor that still looked to be no match for the netherite protection Quackity wore. I wouldn't step in unless I had to though, Techno needs to win his own battles. I could smell the potions lingering on Techno and that put my mind somewhat at ease.

Wilbur's presence was abundantly clear as he came up behind me. He grabbed my hand and tried to tug me away from the control room. I pushed him away and his eyes widened, shocked at the action.

"Y/n it isn't safe." He went for my hand again but I dodged it.

"I already told you to fuck off Wilbur." He blew out breath before letting out a light laugh. What was so funny?

"Why are you so concerned for him?" His voice was filled with anger.

"Excuse me?" I looked into his eyes, a peculiar emotion shining through that I hadn't noticed previously.

"I knew it. When I walked into your base that day, I knew you two had something."

"What the hell Wil? You want to be jealous now? He almost died you PSYCHO!"

I rushed away from Wilbur and found Techno standing over a puddle of blood. His pickaxe has gripped tight, and I understood that Quackity had lost a life. He looked at me, sad for the loss of my friend but I knew why he has to do it. I held no ill feelings towards him.

"It's okay Techno." I gave him a small smile. I placed and hand on his cheek before urging him away before more people came.

Hopping on Carl, he quickly rode away from the scene leaving me and Wilbur alone.

"Y/n." I felt him come closer to me and I turned around.

"What the hell do you want?" My hands started to shake.

"I'm sorry." He held my hands in his, trying to calm them.

"You're sorry? Fuck off." I tried to turn away but he pulled my hands closer and I was stuck like that.

"I did it to protect you. He's dangerous and I love you." Wilbur looked desperately at me trying to make me forgive him.

"Protect me? You're crazy! You wanted me to watch my best friend get murdered." I looked away from him.

"I wanted you to see how bad a friend he is Y/n. You can only count on me! Look around, he's gone. He left you. Your "friends" hunted him down despite your protests. I'm the only one here for you!" He gently held my face with his hands and he ran his thumb along my right cheek.

I didn't look him in the eye. It couldn't be true, my friends care about me. They all do, right?

"No. You're lying!" I squeezed his wrists but he stayed still. He only gave me a look of pity and I felt stupid. Maybe he was right.

"I wish I was Y/n. I want to protect you from everyone, but you are too trusting."

3rd person POV:
And Wilbur was right. They were too trusting, but they were trusting the wrong person.

"I'm sorry." Y/n finally met Wilbur's eyes. They felt so dumb for doubting Wil when he had only wanted to protect them.

"Don't be, it's not your fault." He gave her a small peck on the forehead

They grabbed Wil's hand and walked back towards the execution site.

Tubbo took notice of them first, and it was a strange sight to see. The man who had blown up a nation, and helped with the attempted slaughter of Y/n's best friend. With the one person who had every right to hate him. And yet here they were, hand in hand calmly walking towards the group of disparted members of the butcher army.

It wasn't just strange, it was off-putting to say the least. Y/n should not be able to forgive someone like that especially with how stubborn they were. What had happened in there? Everyone had seen Techno ride off and wallowed in their defeat, now they were immensely concerned as they had all seen how upset Y/n was mere minutes ago.

Something was definitely off. They just wouldn't see how bad it was until it was too late.
