"Pathetic." Devlon hissed, circling me. I threw another punch in his direction. He stepped aside from my hand as if he was dodging a fly.
"Sloppy, but not surprising," he said, crossing his arms. We've been sparring for the last hour and I haven't made any hits on him. At this point, he was just walking around me. Assessing my movements rather than actually fighting. It was infuriating.
After we established that Devlon had no plans in killing any of us. Ignes healed Devlon and me. She refused to heal him at first, but her father forced her into doing it. Scared that he might rip us all apart if she didn't. So as an act of rebellion Ignes 'accidentally' stepped on his bad foot with the cruelest smile on her face. Devlon yelled at her for her incompetence, but she didn't care. It only made his healing process so excruciating that Devlon couldn't even speak. Ignes doing it completely on purpose. I didn't give him an ounce of pity. Savoring every single moment of his pain. Since it was nothing compared to the damage he did to me.
My pain on the other hand was so unbearable that Illias and Mia had to hold me down from moving. Devlon managed to dislocate my jaw. Only with my super acting fae healing, I was able to talk. But it was still not enough to put the jaw back into place. So Ignes had to pop it back in. That's not even the worst part of it. He also gracefully gifted me a bruised rib. Which explained why it was so hard for me to breathe. Ignes was able to fix me, to some degree. Her warm glowing hands skimmed through my body. Making me feel like she was putting it back together again. Only leaving a slight throbbing pain, but one I could definitely live with. If I was still completely human I would have been knocked out from that punch alone. Maybe even worse. Dead.
Which only motivated me to train with him more. I was still wary around Devlon now that I fully knew what he was capable of. But it just proved how dangerous it would be in Prythian for me to be alone. If I wanted to find my brother, I needed to hold my own in a fight. Not hoping for a miracle, as I had with Devlon when we first fought.
"You fight like a child," Devlon said. "You were able to skip the basics, I assumed more from you."
I grunted, throwing another sloppy punch, completely exhausted. Devlon shifted to the side again, clicking his tongue. I hated to admit it, but he was right. There was no doubt that I could do better than what I was doing now. But I was just too tired to even think straight with my pain adding on to it. Reminding me just how weak I was at every motion I made. It was pathetic. Just one week without working out and my body was on fire. Sweat dripped down, drenching the new workout clothes Ignes made for me. Which were made out of this black stretchy leather material that was not helping with the hot spring day.
"Stop," Devlon growled, his wings flaring out in annoyance. His hazel eyes sharply gazed at my body in disappointment.
I panted, staring right at him, unable to say anything. Devlon turned towards the back door where Andrei, Ignes, and Illias were watching. Not wanting to leave me alone with him. Illias even had his long sword in his hands just in case. But I doubt Devlon cared, with the little armory he had attached to his body. The metals from the weapons shining in my face as he moved around.
"You want this thing to protect your daughter," Devlon spat, glaring directly at Andrei. I wiped the sweat off my brow but said nothing. Ashamed of my own training, which was going terribly.
Andrei shrugged. "She was able to keep up with you in a fight. I think she can, but she is just a bit out of shape. Give her time."
"She wasn't able to keep up. I was taking it easy on her." Devlon snapped, looking me up and down again. If that was him taking it easy, then I definitely don't want to see him with no remorse.
