The man's bright violet eyes started to inspect every inch of me. Looking me up and down with pure curiosity. I tried my best to not look uncomfortable, but his stare alone made me want to cower away from his line of sight. What I hated the most was that he was absolutely gorgeous. His beauty was unlike most of the people I've seen walking around. His presence alone showed power yet had a calming stillness.
His lips began to twitch into a wicked smile at me. I was still trying to determine if we were all in danger, and with that smile, it certainly didn't help. "I don't believe I've had the pleasure, you are?" The man's voice boomed through the room. My eyes went towards Ignes for a split second hesitating on what I should say.
"I'm Nyx, my lord," I said softly, making eye contact with him once again. His smile turned warm at the sound of my name then he swiftly put his hands in his pockets.
"That's my son's name," he said casually, his smile was still warm like he was thinking about it. I returned it with a radiant smile of my own. Feeling a little at ease, but nevertheless, I was still nervous. Ignes's look showed me that the reason for him being here was because of me. There is no telling what this man might do to me once he figured out that I was not from this world. But my smile didn't falter to not raise suspicion as I managed to speak.
"Your son has an amazing name then. In mythology, Nyx is the name of the goddess of night." I blurted out, he nodded intrigued that I knew that bit of information.
"You know old mythology?" He questioned. If I knew about mythology was the understatement of the century. My mom had an obsession with Greek mythology hence all of her children's names. That obsession led to me wanting to know every inch about it. The man's question was an innocent one but I didn't know what old mythology is. It can mean a variety of other myths from different cultures. However, it's good to know that some mythology from my world ended up here. That means I'm not the only one who has been here before. At least I think that's how the information ended up here.
I started fidgeting at the thoughts twirling around making me hop back and forth on my feet. His eyes glanced towards my feet noticing the slight movement. Turning his body back to Ignes understanding my discomfort. I almost let out a breath of relief to have his attention fixed elsewhere. Mia seemed to take note of the change in my demeanor moving closer to me.
"Would you like to continue talking about this matter in private, Ignes?" He asked politely, solely focused on her. Ignes stood up straight and clasped her hands together in front of her.
"No, it's alright they can hear the details." Ignes soothed, looking at Mia and I then back towards the man nodding slightly. He turned back towards us sighing, making a knot start to form in my stomach from it alone. Whatever he was about to say to us was not going to be pleasant at all. But I kept my chin up, waiting for the handsome lord to speak.
"Last night, Ignes which I assumed both you may know was robbed." He explained, I nodded but Mia looked concerned darting her focus on Ignes. Ignes didn't say anything to her either I suppose. If she refused to talk about it to even Mia then there is no way she will ever mention it.
The lord noted Mia's expression causing his lips to go in a thin line. He knew exactly what he caused accidentally. And I think both of us were aware that Mia was not going to let Ignes off the hook for it. Even if Mia worked for Ignes, anyone could tell Mia cared for her deeply.
"She was saved but didn't know by who. The person managed to control their minds and we found them still standing in the alley unable to move." The Lord said I controlled myself enough to not let my eyes go wide. Ignes lied to him for me, not only that, both of us knew that I did that last night. And I remembered exactly what I said to those men in that alley. "Stay there" I yelled at them, but it wasn't just an insignificant warning. It was a command, those men were at my mercy and I didn't even realize it. The hairs on my arms started to rise making me want to shiver but I remained still. Mia was the opposite, gasping looking back and forth at the lord and Ignes. The man seemed to click his tongue. Looking at me again, masking whatever feeling he had on his face, and continued.
