Six Years Later...
I let out a breath as I finally sat down on the seat.
I'm between my mom and dad while Mrs. Martinez sits on my mom's right side. Colten also is here so he's sitting next to my dad.
The game started twenty minutes ago but with my peeing every five minutes, I missed the beginning.
I rubbed a hand over my swollen belly as I felt small kicks.
I'm seven months along with Arius and my baby boy.
Arturo Reid Martinez will be here soon and we couldn't be more excited. We named him after Arius's father and gave him Everett's middle name.
I will say however the timing wasn't the best.
I'll forever hold it against Arius for getting me pregnant during the most stressful time of our lives. But as one says, it takes two to make a baby. We weren't exactly being careful either. I had been off my birth control for a month when it all happened.
Arius had also just begun his training with the LA Kings when we found out.
We were excited anyway.
"Oh, look I see Niko!" My mom beams and points to the television.
I spot him skating around to go back to his position.
After we found out we were pregnant, Arius proposed. He was planning on asking me to marry two weeks after we found out. Like I said the pregnancy was a surprise but a good one.
We're going to be the best parents and give this little boy everything we didn't have.
One thing about this pregnancy? I am huge for being seven months. I have no doubt Arturo will be getting his father's tall genes.
Niko's team ends up making a shot and the crowd erupts in cheers on the TV. I don't bother getting up with my family, I'll end up having to pee again.
Niko is playing for the Boston Bruins. We're all excited for when Arius and Niko have to play against each other.
"I brought snacks!" Everett shows up with popcorn, soda cans, and small bags of chips.
He sits down next to Colten and passes down the snacks.
We all thank him and I keep a bag of chips for myself.
"Alright, here we go, he has the puck." My dad claps his hands together and we all watch as Niko makes the goal again.
I cheer from my seat and feel my son kick my belly.
"From how much he kicks when he hears the cheers I'm afraid he's going to be a wild child." I snorted while opening my bag of chips, "I remember being pregnant with Arius. He was the same." Mrs. Martinez laughs.
Oh, great.
I'll be having a mini Arius running around.
"Speaking of Arius, is he still in the kitchen?" I asked Everett and he nodded his head while shoving popcorn into his mouth.
I got up from the couch and walked to the kitchen.
I find Arius cutting a slice of watermelon into pieces.
"Hey, you need any help?" I stood beside him and held my belly with one hand while my other hand began to rub his back.
He shook his head and smiled, "No, it's okay. I haven't cooked, let alone cut any food up in weeks. It's the one weekend I have with you guys before heading back."
The LA Kings train in Los Angeles and they have an upcoming game soon. This weekend is the first time I've seen him in two months. He feels horrible about missing out so much on the pregnancy but I visit him whenever I can.
Although this time he was able to visit Morhills and see everyone else.
I do however see how much it bothers him.
"I know you miss us but we're so proud of you, Arius. Besides, I'll be with you in a month in the beautiful apartment we picked out a few months ago."
When we found out we were pregnant one of our concerns was Arius having to stay in Los Angeles for long periods. I had agreed to move with him once the baby was born.
I am sad I'm leaving my family but we'd promised to come back one day.
Besides, I'm doing this with Arius.
My partner in crime, the love of my life.
My business will also be moving with me, turns out I have a thing for planning and baking. I got myself a catering business and we will thrive in Los Angeles considering it's the city where most social influencers are.
Arius finishes up the fruit and turns to me, wiping his hands with a towel.
"It seems too far...and yet so close." He drops the towel onto the counter and begins to rub my belly.
"Sooner than we think." I smiled at him and he sighed, "We're in no way prepared for this."
I laughed and held his hands in mine as we held my belly.
"Nope, but we'll figure it out together."
Arius's blue eyes stare into mine and a smile forms on his lips.
"I love you, Princess. And my little prince."
"We love you more."
Arturo kicks my belly recognizing his father's voice.
We'll be okay.
We will always have each other.
