Song: The Spins
By: Mac Miller
Dedicated to: My high school friends.
One Month Later...
My dad always had the most positive personality and was the kind of guy you can count on for anything. He was also an amazing hockey player.
I remember he'd tell me as a kid about when he got drafted into the NHL. I loved every second of the story, hoping to follow in his footsteps one day.
It wasn't until we'd won our championship game and the scout approached me afterward that it all felt like it was coming together.
Starting August I will be attending Morhills University alongside my best friend Niko Vinson as new hockey team members. Everett and Reece will also be joining, securing their spots during tryouts.
This is exactly where I was meant to be.
Morhills University is close by so I'll be able to commute and stay around for both Colten and Aylee. I'll also be starting to work part-time rather than seasonal at the auto shop.
My mom is extending her rehab stay but will be back home soon. She'll be living with us in the Vinson house for a while until she finds a steady job.
I truly cannot thank the Vinson family enough for everything they've done.
"I'm so proud of you boys." Mrs. Vinson wipes the tears from her eyes and places a kiss on our cheeks.
"So, how early can you boys start paying rent?" Mr. Vinson jokes, hopefully, and we all laugh.
Colten comes to hug me next, "Proud of you, brother." I smiled at him and patted his back before we let go.
Soon enough he'll be Morhills Public's new hockey player. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up being captain. Colten has an amazing swing and is fast on his feet.
