Prologue

Twenty years ago:

Adam or King Beast and Belle got themselves elected to be King and Queen of the United States of Auradon. Instead of taking his new wife on a honeymoon he rounded up all the villains and their sidekicks and booted them to a small island and installed a barrier around it so they could never get out, not thinking of them possibly having children and what their life would be like. That island soon became known as the Isle of the Lost.

Four years later:

Hades and Maleficent were pretty much ruling the island and everyone was terrified of them whether they admitted it or not. A few months after Hades had found out Maleficent was pregnant with his child, he caught her with someone else, so he left her and had a one night stand with Regina aka the Evil Queen. Which also resulted in Regina becoming pregnant with Hades's child, but this time it was twins. Regina kept that secret to herself never telling anyone so they could be protected from Maleficent's wrath, especially as she was living with Maleficent and her daughter, Jafar and his son, and Cruella and her son.

But somehow she found out and banished Regina and her beautiful twin daughters Evie and Eris, to another home until the twins were six years old and were allowed to come back to their original home, but there was always a tension between the two mothers. Regina loved her twins in her own way by making sure they always looked their best and would attract someone better, have a better story than she had. She knew they had inherited her gift of magic and had also inherited demigod abilities from their father, especially Eris her Goddess.

Ten  years later:

~ Auradon, Beast Castle, Ben's room ~

Ben looked out at the Isle of the Lost as he was currently being fitted for his suit for his Coronation; lost in deep thought, as he thought on ways he could help the kids over there. He had already thought of his first proclamation and he knew many would not agree with it, but he also knew it was for the best as those kids were innocent and he could only guess at the hardships they've had to endure over there. He knew people would not agree and would try to talk him out of it but he would not be swayed, he wanted to start of with five kids and if they work out; he'd bring over another five kids every six months to nine months. He was suddenly brought out of his thoughts by his parents entering his room.

"How is it possible that my only son is to be crowned King next month?" King Adam asked, as he walked into the room with his wife, Belle, on his arm. "You're just a baby."
"Adam, dear, we've talked about this; he's turning sixteen." Belle reproached gently.
"Hey, Pops." Ben called hesitantly, trying to get a word in.
"Sixteen!" Adam exclaimed, talking over his son. "That's far too young to be crowned King. I didn't make a good decision until I was at least forty-two."
Belle stopped tidying up her son's clothes to stare at her husband incredulously and slightly offended.

"Uh. You decided to marry me at twenty-eight." Belle scoffed, causing Adam to stop putting his glasses away as his eyes widened.
"It was either you or the teapot." Adam said jokingly, trying to make up for his mistake but Belle was not impressed with him nor her son who laughed a little. "Kidding." Adam added, raising his eyebrows to his son.
"Mum. Dad." Ben said, moving to step off the podium but the tailor stopped him. "I've chosen my first official proclamation." Adam and Belle shared a proud look with each other before turning to face their son with proud smiles on their faces. "I've chosen that the children on the Isle of the Lost are to be given a chance to live here in Auradon." Ben added.

Adam and Belle made noises of shocked disbelief, the items of clothing that Belle had once held fell to the floor with a soft thump.
"Every time I look out to the island, I feel like they've been abandoned." Ben said passionately, walking towards his parents.
"The children of our sworn enemies? Living among us?" Adam asked incredulously.
"We start out with five at first, only ones who need our help the most. And if it works we continue bringing over five children every six to nine months. I've already chosen them." Ben declared.
"Have you?" Adam asked, his voice tight with anger. Belle put a restraining hand on his arm.
"I gave you a second chance, as did the Enchantress even though you don't like to admit it." Belle reprimanded.

"Who are their parents?" Belle asked her son proudly.
"Okay, Dad, promise me you won't interrupt?" Ben asked seriously, Adam opened his mouth, closed it then sighed and took a calming breath before he spoke.
"I promise son." Adam sighed.
"Cruella de Vil, Jafar, the twins of Hades and Evil Queen.." Ben hurried on as his Dad went to speak but Belle stopped him and nodded to her son to continue. "and Maleficent." Ben added, straightening his back despite the tailor screaming and hurrying out of the room.
"Maleficent!" Adam shouted. "It's bad enough you want the twin girls of Evil Queen and Hades, but Maleficent is the worst villain in the land!"

"Dad, just hear me out here..." Ben asked.
"I won't hear of it." Adam said sternly, pointing his finger at his son. "They are guilty of unspeakable crimes. And Hades... he's the worst God there could possibly be! He's the God of the Underworld!"
"But their children are innocent!" Ben shouted, as everyone left the room to give the arguing royal family some space. "Don't you think they deserve a shot at a normal life?" Ben demanded of his parents. "Dad?" Ben asked, giving him the puppy dog eyes. Adam closed his eyes as he always caved to those eyes, he opened them to see Ben still giving them to him and turned to look at his wife who was also giving him those eyes and nodding her head. Sighing he calmed himself down as he could see from their point of view even if it was hard to admit.

"I suppose the children are innocent." Adam conceded. Ben smiled happily as his Dad turned to leave the room and he was embraced by his mother.
"Well done." She said proudly, straightening his suit jacket and kissing his cheek. "Shall we?" Belle asked, linking her arm through her husbands as they had much to set up. Not only with their son's coronation but now also with scheduling the pick up and the enrolment of the five children from the Isle. Ben couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief as his parents left and turned to look out at Isle, pleased with how it all went. It had gone much better than he had expected. Like always when he looked out at the Isle he wondered what was going on over there and if the kids there had some semblance of what the kids here have: love, safety and happiness. But something in his gut was telling him that wasn't the case.
