Chapter Six, The Spelled Cookie

The following day, Mal had joined her sister's in their classes while they wait for Carlos's and Jay to arrive each occupying themselves for the time being. Mal was looking through her spell book from her mother, Eris and Evie's sat open beside it as she compared between the two (Regina's having more spells and more diverse ones than her mother's), and her sisters were making outfits for herself, Carlos and Jay. It was rather peaceful the three sisters all together when there was a knock on the door before Carlos entered with a laptop underneath his arm and Dude the mutt following along beside him. As Mal lounged on Eris's bed, Carlos sat on the floor in front of the bed occasionally watching the twins make their clothes in silence; fascination shining clear in their eyes.

Jay, Mal and Carlos were also amazed at the stunning outfits the twins could make with the most simplest of cloth, not even for themselves but for the three of them as well. The twins were nearly finished when the door was thrown open suddenly, startling them only to reveal Jay beaming with pride and happiness; a blue lacrosse shirt on over the top of his red leather outfit.
"Looking good, bro." Carlos whistled.
"Looking very handsome there, Jay." Eris flirted, batting her eyes lashes seductively. A pleaser grin spread across Jay's face at that even if a blush did coat his cheeks slightly.
"Thanks Eris. I saw you in the cheer outfit yesterday and it suited you. Though I do prefer you in leather." Jay flirted, wiggling his eyebrows at her; a smirk appearing on Eris's lips.

"Did your plan work with Jane? Are you going over to see the wand?" He asked the three girls.
"Do you think that I would be going through every single spell in both these books if it did?" Mal snapped.
"Mal!" Eris scolded.
"Looks like someone's in a bad mood." Carlos muttered.
"My Mum is counting on me!" Mal argued heatedly.
"Well, I personally think they set us up to fail." Eris muttered. "What?" She asked at the looks she got. "It's true! They knew we would be watched closely and even separated as soon as we got here. This is the first time we've all been together for more than five minutes since we arrived!"

"We can do this!" Jay interrupted. "If we stick together."
"And we won't go back until we do." Mal ordered. "Because we're rotten..."
"To the core." Eris, Evie, Jay and Carlos finished together.
"Oh, yeah. I found out that Fairy Godmother blesses Ben with the wand at coronation and we all get to go." Evie added. "Eris and I gave nothing to wear, of course." She sighed rolling her eyes. "What?" She asked noticing Mal's look just as there was a knock on the door.
"Hold that thought." Mal muttered, pointing at her sister as she got up to answer the door.
"Hey, Mal." Ben said nervously. "I've been looking for you. I didn't see you guys today." Eris gave a pointed look at the others, as this just proved her point.

"I was just wondering if you had any questions or anything that you needed." Ben asked.
"Not that I know of." Mal muttered, turning to look over her shoulder at the others who all shook their head.
"Okay. All right." Ben sighed anxiously, Barry keeping from shifting from foot to foot. "Well, if you need anything just..."
"Oh. Wait." Mal suddenly interrupted as he started to walk off. "Um, is it true that we all get to go to your coronation?"
"Yeah, the whole school goes." Ben confirmed.
"Wow. That is beyond exciting." Mal muttered with faux excitement, which Ben failed to notice. "Do you think that it's a possibility that the five of us could stand in the front row next to the Fairy Godmother to soak up all that goodness?"

"I wish you could. Up front it's just me, my parents and my girlfriend." Ben apologised.
"And your girlfriend?" Mal clarified.
"Yeah. I'm sorry." Ben apologised, truly apologetic.
"Okay. Thanks, bye." Mal abruptly said closing the door before he could finish another word.
"Oh, no wait, there's plenty of roo..."
Smirking wickedly, Mal turned to face her sisters and her best friends, a plan hatching in her mind.
"I think it's time that Bennyboo got himself a new girlfriend." Mal smirked wickedly. "And I need a love spell." She clapped her hands wiggling her fingers to Carlos who threw her Maleficent's spell book.
"Use our Mum's book." Eris interjected, waving her fingers causing said book to float over to her sister.
"You have got to teach me how to do that!" Evie, Mal, Jay and Carlos exclaimed amazed. Eris just smirked at them, the gold in her eyes dimming slightly.

Later that night, the five of them were down in the kitchens making a batch of cookies that had the Love spell in them.
"All right, it says we still need one tear and I never cry." Mal informed them.
"Let's just chop up some onions." Carlos chimed in, grabbing an onion from the crate in the counter.
"No!" Mal exclaimed. "It said that we need one year of human sadness. And this love potion gets the best reviews, so we have to follow it exactly."
"A tear's a tear..." Jay interjected.

"That's not true, Jay." Evie and Eris corrected together. "They both have antibodies and enzymes, but an emotional tear has more protein-based hormones than a reflex tear." They added, causing the other three to shiver at their twin-speak.
"Listen to you two." Mal said proudly. "Although, I hate your twin-speak."
"Me too." Jay and Carlos added, as the kitchen door suddenly opened causing Mal to cover the spell book with a tea towel.
"There you are Mal! Evie! Eris!" Lonnie exclaimed, rushing towards the three girls. "I was looking for you three. You know, all the girls want you to do their hair! Midnight snack, huh? Whatcha guys making?"
"Nothing special. Just cookies." Mal muttered nervously, only for Lonnie to scoop up some batter and eat it.

"NO!" The five VKs bellowed alarmed.
"What? I'm not gonna double dip!" Lonnie conveyed feeling rather confused at their looks of alarm.
"Do you feel anything? Or like there's anything missing?" Eris hedged carefully.
"I feel fine. But it could use some chips." Lonnie informed them, heading to the large double-door fridge.
"And those are?" Mal barked confused and a little irritated.
"Chocolate chips. The most important food group. Wait, didn't your Mums ever make you guys, like, chocolate chip cookies?" Lonnie asked confused, sprinkling two handfuls of the chocolate chips into the bowl causing Eris, Evie and Mal to lean into each other while looking at Lonnie sadly.

"When you're feeling sad, and they're fresh from the oven, with a big glass of milk and she just makes you laugh and puts everything into perspective..." Lonnie reminiscences, only to trail off when she notices the looks of sadness and jealousy on each of their faces. "Why are you all looking at me like that?"
"It's just different where we're from." Mal muttered sadly.
"Yeah, I know but I thought, you know, that even villains loved their kids..." Lonnie trailed off as she realised the stark truth of what they and the other kids on the Isle have suffered through and starts to cry.
"How awful." She muttered compassionately.
"Yeah, well big bummer, but we have to get these into the oven, so thank you so much for coming by." Mal muttered, wiping the tear off Lonnie's cheek throwing it into the bowl which Evie quickly stirred in.

"Have a good night. I'll see you tomorrow. Evil dreams." Mal and Eris hinted as they hurriedly saw Lonnie out of the kitchen.
"Okay, okay. Bye guys." Lonnie agreed leaving the kitchen.
"Okay, boys, cookie sheet." Eris ordered.
"Evie oven." Mal added.
"Yes ma'am." They agreed as their plan was finally coming together. Perhaps they won't be punished by their parents after all.
