aejung pulled the hair tie from her tangled locks, wincing when it caught on a few knots. she mumbled some unnecessary curses as she pulled the hair from the tie, rubbed her scalp, and complained about balding.
"dude, can you shut the fuck up?" the girl poked her head from her bathroom and into her bedroom, where daehyun was standing with an annoyingly boyish smirk.
"no? why are you in my room?"
"i need shampoo."
aejung rolled her eyes and went back to the bathroom. their mom had an obsession with couponing and collected products that she bought basically for free. since she ran out of space in the laundry area, aejung's bathroom became the coupon addict's storage.
as the blonde searched for a good brand, daehyun mindlessly wandered towards the outfit laid out on his sister's bed. he scrunched his nose at the style and tipped his head back slightly so the girl behind him could hear. "are you seriously gonna wear this?"
aejung frowned, growing defensive of the outfit choice. "yes? ... why..?"
"it's ugly."
"fuck you!"
after quite a tiresome search, she had settled with a large baby pink hoodie and some leggings. it was always what she ended up wearing. date material? no, but this wasn't a date.
apparently, daehyun disagreed.
"listen, you're going out with a guy for the first time. i'm a guy. you can't wear this. as your brother, i can't let you wear this."
the girl waved him off, wanting him to disappear, but a small part of her always valued his opinions, especially considering his track record with women and men alike. "then... what would you go with instead?"
her brother's brows furrowed as he scanned the room, glancing towards a pile of clothes on the floor that he knew were clean. he didn't take more than two minutes to lay out a new outfit, nodding at himself in satisfaction. "this."
aejung had the outfit on in minutes, silently admiring herself in the large mirror she never hung up. "yo," she mused, twisting her waist to get a look at the way the white fabric hugged and accentuated her figure. she looked up at her brother with a smug grin. "dae, you know what you're doing."
"of course i do. i'm popular." not a lie but the elder still gave the boy a harmless slap on the arm before glancing back at her reflection.
daehyun had picked out the new crop top his sister bought, knowing she'd be too shy to ever wear it on her own. it was white with short sleeves and thin straps that crossed over the open back, the soft fabric covered in little multicolored flowers.
with the shirt he chose a basic pair of light-washed skinny jeans, making sure they were high-waisted cause he knew aejung was self-conscious about her stomach. and she wouldn't have gone in any shoe other than her black converse highs, which the boy always rolled his eyes at. "you know, a lot of girls your age own more than three pairs of shoes. and actually know how to apply make-up."
the girl huffed a quiet sigh as she struggled to coat her lashes with mascara. "so? no one from school is gonna see me, anyways. i don't go anywhere or do anything."
