"what are you doing here?" renjun asked, his tone bitter and very unlike the sweet voice jeno knew.
scoffing under his breath, the taller of the two adjusted his grip on the bag hanging limply over his shoulder. "last i checked, this was a public library." the older bit back a groan as he rolled his eyes. "don't try that shit on me, jen. we both know it isn't gonna work."
it was quiet, one boy trying to come up with a worthy excuse and the other forcing himself to unclench his fists. "i wanna apologize..."
"dude, why can't you just let it be? she doesn't want to talk to you. leave her alone." renjun took a step forward, forcing jeno to take one back. "don't fucking make me tell you again."
the younger raised his hands in almost playful surrender, an amused scoff harshly leaving his mouth. "calm down, alright? i'm going."
jeno moved to step around renjun when the shorter caught his forearm, holding him in place. the boy with two-toned hair didn't have to look up to get his point across, just tip his chin gently to the left.
"i'm not messing around, jeno. if i see you bothering aejung again..." he didn't have to finish. jeno was hardly intimidated, seeing as he was much stronger and more popular than the older boy, but he respected his friend's wishes and left in peace.
renjun made sure the other was gone before turning back towards his table, where the blonde was waiting patiently.
she was drafting something in her notebook, eyebrows creased gently in concentration. the boy couldn't help but smile at how ridiculously cute she looked, wanting nothing more than to tuck some of the fallen bleached locks behind her ear.
aejung looked up when renjun took his seat, a large grin printed against her lips. "all sorted?" he nodded, appreciating how she didn't pry for him to elaborate.
"great. cause it's payday and i kinda want a popsicle. my treat?"
"isn't it cold outside?"
"your point?"
"... i'm in."
