"with or without him, you know you're gonna be just fine.""I didn't know there was anything on the back of it. I swear." Getting out of the car which the boys had spent in silence, Scott tried to smooth things over, knowing he wasn't acting malicious towards Stiles. "If there was, surely you would know that I would've given it to you."
Stiles stopped and turned around, facing Scott, his mood had changed and he no longer seemed angry. However, he only seemed it, that didn't mean he didn't feel it deep down.
"I went to nursery school with this girl, okay? She promised to introduce us to all of her friends. So, tonight, no Allison, no Rosie. Tonight, we're moving on." While Scott was looking at his phone, seeing Allisons call, Stiles continued. "Rosie said she wants to be just friends and that's what we will be."
"You're right... about me. Are you sure about you though?"
"That's right I'm right. About both of us." He said confidently, a hint of excitement in his voice.
"Moving on." Scott replied, a lack of certainty behind his words.
"Onward and upward."
"Lets do this."
"That's what I'm talking about. Now look at me." The boys high fived in their boyish way and walked to the entrance of the house with pulsating music erupting from its walls.
Panicking, the boys walked up to the door, worrying about what they were wearing, how they smelt or how they should act. They each took a deep breath before entering the realm of another high schools party.
"Stiles! Hi." A girl shouted at him upon entry, running up to him as she did so with a smile on her face, but not before looking back to her friend.
"Hey, theres the birthday girl-" He was interrupted by this said girl colliding her lips with his, an interaction he hadn't had in months.
"So glad that you made it."
"Me too." Stiles was shocked at the sudden kiss but wasn't too mad about it. It was as if, in this moment, he had forgotten about the note and even about Rosie. Though that moment didn't last as a sudden wave of guilt flushed over, though, like she said, they were just friends.
"Come downstairs with me and help me pick out a bottle of wine."
"Yes." He said but then went to look at Scott, waiting for approval. Looking at Scott, he saw that he too was shocked but nodded at his best friend, knowing how much he had been hurting over the whole Rosie situation.
"You're just friends." Scott whispered, repeating what Rosie had said and what Stiles had recalled.
Stiles was dragged down into the cellar by his hand, feeling very discrete though didn't know if what he was doing was right. But what did he have to feel guilty for, him and Rosie aren't together anymore?
"Hey remember when we were little kids we used to come down here all the time and then-" Once more, his words were cut off by her lips meeting his. "Yeah, we never did that."
"Stiles." Heather pulled him down an aisle, wine bottle cascading around them. "I just turned 17 today and you know what I want for my birthday?"
