Asellus climbed up from a ravine, brushed off the dirt from his clothes with the palm of his hand, and walked towards a plain and grassy area. He seemed annoyed and frustrated as he looked around. He began mumbling to himself in a low voice.
Asellus: I'm tired of this, you give us no fucking warning, take it all for us to start fresh, and you don't even help out...
He started building a little hut to take refuge in as the sun began to settle. He made out a bed in a corner and sat on it, still annoyed. He looked out through a window as the moon began to rise, he sighed."Guess I'll do everything tomorrow." he said to himself, drifting off to sleep on the bed.
In the middle of the night, the noise of crops being moved woke him up. Drowsy, he got up from the bed and grabbed a sword made of iron he had made the day before as a door opened. As he saw a figure approaching him, he swung but as the figure ducked under the sword he moved back. The figure spoke to him, it sounded familiar. Asellus rubbed his eyes to be able to see better, he noticed immediately who it was.
Asellus: Oh...so they left you here as well, Ivy.
Ivy: Could you like...let go of the sword.
Asellus: Makes me feel safe.
Ivy: From what?
Asellus: You.
Ivy: Wha- WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?!
Asellus smiled as he put his hand on her head.
Asellus: Just messing with you. You should rest, there's a lot to do tomorrow.
He sat down in bed and patted on the covers, telling her to accompany him. She sat next to him.
Ivy: Hey, is it wrong for us to be together? Like, with the whole dimension hopping thing?
Asellus: Relationships are a taboo in the eyes of the higher ups. So we probably shouldn't....
Ivy: Hmm...
Ivy: I did say nothing was gonna stop me, not even that.
Asellus: I like your stubbornness. Let's keep it on the down low for now, we don't want Dimension Hunters to look for us.
Ivy: Dimension Hunters?
Asellus: They're a tier above us. We clear out the dimensions for the higher ups to use. They hunt us down if we become rogue and break rules. I was gonna become one but...I didn't wanna leave Barten alone. We've been together for more than 50 years now doing this. He's one of the few people I can trust.
Ivy: Oh. So he's like your boyfriend.
Asellus: Ivy, I swear in the name of all that is holy.
Ivy: Hey dude, you two spent so much time together and act like a married couple from what I saw.
Asellus: You're sleeping outside now.
Ivy: I'm just stating a fact.
She smiled at him.
Ivy: You're leaving a poor defenceless girl all outside by herself. How could you? Do you have no shame?
Asellus: Ivy, I will drop-kick you.
Ivy wrapped her arms around him.
Asellus: Hmm...maybe we can take some time with this dimension, it wouldn't hurt to live together for a while.
Ivy: What happened to keeping it on the low?
Asellus: Look who's talking.
They both laughed.
Asellus: Let's sleep for today, we can start everything tomorrow...together.
They laid down next to each other and drifted off to sleep, both with smiles on their faces. Suddenly, Asellus awoke in a different house all by himself. He looked around to see one other familiar face, it was Barten. Asellus walked towards him and went to grab his shoulder he disappeared. The house faded away around him and as he looked around, he saw Ivy behind him, tears streaming down her face as she had been pierced by a black sword. Asellus ran towards her and kneeled down next to her. He lifted her up on his arms and applied pressure on the wound. She put her hand on his cheek as she smiled at him. "Now go survive." she said, her hand dropping as she drew her last breath. As he blinked, he woke up with Ivy shaking his leg.
Ivy: You are one heavy sleeper.
Asellus looked around the room, dazed. He grabbed Ivy by her arm and pulled her onto him. With Ivy now on top of him in bed, the two looked at each other for a second.
Ivy: I thought you said we'd take it slow.
He hugged her tight and didn't let go.
Ivy: Ase?
Asellus: I- sorry.
He let go of her, Ivy stayed on him.
Ivy: For what? I don't mind.
Asellus: ...
Ivy: Did something happen?
Asellus: No, just making sure every moment counts.
Ivy: Right...
Asellus: ...
Ivy: ...
Asellus: So you gonna move?
Ivy: Nah, I think I'm comfortable here.

Hane: So you've worked with other dimension hoppers before?
Barten: Yeah, I worked with the same guy for over 50 years.
Hane: Where is he right now?
Barten: Knowing him, he's probably messing around with his new girl.
Hane: Huh? Isn't it against the rule to be in a relationship?
Barten: That dude hasn't followed a single rule in all of his life. I'm surprised he hasn't been hunted yet.
