Agorix: Hey Asellus, what are you building over there?
Asellus: I'm not building anything....what do you mean?
Agorix: Oh? There are two beds and two work stations over by the trees in the north.
Asellus: Huh....interesting....
He looked over by where Agorix mentioned and saw what he said was there.
Asellus: Well...maybe Barten is doing something.
Agorix: Well, yes but no. He's building something by the little mountain northwest of here.
Asellus looked over to the mountain.
Asellus: AY YO WHAT?!
He saw a big tavern on the top of the mountain. He started going up to where it was and saw Barten doing some finishing touches.
Barten: And we are done.
Asellus: What is this for?
Barten:Well, I might move up here and leave that other room to you.
Asellus: Oh?
Barten: Yeah, I'm also making a secret storage for all the important things I duped when the machine worked. Don't tell Agorix.
Asellus: Alright, bet.
Some time passed, and the two made the place around their house look nicer. Asellus and Barten regrouped by the campfire. The two stayed quiet for a minute and looked at their surroundings.
Asellus: I wonder how the rest of them are doing?
Barten: You mean...
Asellus: Yeah, the ones from our dimension.
Barten: Well, we know they're safe, but 'Where are they now?' is what you should be asking.
Asellus: They may be safe, but...how are they feeling is the thing.
Barten: I get you, but I'd rather think they feel fine and wonder where they ended up after our dimension was erased, and we got our new names.
Asellus: Hmm, damn...how long has it been since all that?
Barten: I don't have a clue, man, I stopped counting after 50 years.
Asellus: That long...damn, I can't even remember my original name.
Barten: Hmm, neither can I but, I remember everyone else's names perfectly
Asellus: Heh, same here.
Barten: Let's not ponder this too much...
He stood up and pulled out a pickaxe.
Barten: Let's go back over there and see what we find.
He pointed at the portal.
Asellus: Right.
He stood up as well and went towards the portal. The two started going down a small cave they created the day before.
Asellus: How long is it going to take for us to- OH?
He had hit a material he had never seen with his pickaxe.
Barten: The hell is that?
Asellus: Good question man, let's see if there's more around.
The two split up and made a huge tunnel underground, just to see if they could find more of that material. They regrouped after a while.
Asellus: You find anymore?
Barten: I found exactly 20 of those things...is it an ore?
Asellus: No clue, but I found 21 pieces...
Barten: let's head back and see what we can do with this
The two went back up from the cave, they ran back to through the portal.
Asellus: So can we make armor with this.
Barten put it on the table and inspected it.
Barten: I don't think so...these are basically just scraps.
Asellus: Can't you mix them together?
Barten: Hmm, no, they'd still be too weak on their own. We need to mix them with some other ore or something.
Asellus: How about the diamonds we found the other day?
Barten: Nah, we'll need them for something else.
Asellus: The iron?
Barten: We'll need that too.
Asellus: ....the gold....
Barten: Maybe, it is the most useless for now.
He opened a chest and grabbed some gold and put it and the scrap they had on a workbench.
Barten: There we go.
He held up a black bar.
Asellus: Can we make armor out of that?
Barten inspected it closely.
Barten: It'd be inefficient to make armor out of this, we'll use it to upgrade our tools and armor instead.
Asellus: Huh?
He took off his armor and put it in a different workbench, he infused every piece of his tools and armor with the black bars he had made. His new gear had a darker tint and seemed a lot stronger than before.
Asellus: Oh? Let me try.
Asellus did the same with his armor and tools.
Asellus: I feel like I can challenge anything.
Agorix: What's up?
Barten and Asellus aimed their swords at him.
Asellus: Oh, not much.
Agorix: Good to see you two are as lively as ever.
Barten: What do you want?
Agorix: I was wondering if you two had any of those lights you used around the house but I see you two have new gear, what's up with that? I've never seen you two use that.
Barten: We found this in the Underworld. There's probably more of it down there.
Agorix: Alright then, I'll check it out...might need some better gear though.
Asellus gave him better armor, and Barten handed him better tools and a sword.
Barten and Asellus: Don't lose it.
Agorix: I won't jeez, I'll come pick up the lights later.
Agorix went through the portal.
Asellus: How much you want to bet he comes back with nothing?
Barten: I'm not a betting man....I'll lose if I say that he will.
Asellus: Right, it's just obvious at this point...
Barten: How did he get grouped up with is again?
Asellus: I think that his original dimension was erased at the exact same time as ours...so the higher ups decided to group him with us...
Barten: Right, I still wonder how powerful he was in that dimension, he's only being a liability a lot of the time.
Asellus: Let's just get some rest, we're going to have to do a lot tomorrow if we wanna clear this dimension...
Barten: Right, let's do that.
Barten went upstairs and Asellus went into his own room downstairs. They drifted peacefully to sleep, ready to take on anything tomorrow.
