As the sun began to show signs of daytime, Barten walked up the stairs from the underground base they had. As the undead began to burn due to the sunlight, Barten opened the door, sword in hand. Hane walked up behind him.
Hane: Huh, that's weird.
Barten: What's up?
Hane: The undead haven't ever disappeared because of the sun.
Barten: Really? They've always just up and burned like that every dimension I've been too.
Hane: Well not here, be careful. Here, take this.
He pulled out a CZ-75B from the inside of his hoodie.
Barten: You had a gun?
Hane: Yes, but actually no.
Barten: Explain.
Hane: You know how I have the whole ice thing? I can also create weapons from outside someone's view.
Barten: And you decide to give me a damn pistol?!
Hane: Hey, it takes a lot of concentration to make something. It's not exactly easy when I can't look at what I make.
Barten: I guess this'll have to do. Wait, what about the ammo?
Hane: My weapons technically have infinite ammo.
Barten: Huh?
Hane: So, you reload it by taking the mag out, not completely, and putting it back in. It'll use my power when creating more bullets so if I don't have any more power it won't create anything.
Barten: Oh, I guess that's handy.
Hane: Don't hesitate to keep shooting, if my power runs out it won't keep trying to use my power.
Barten: So you can't be affected by Vis Defectus.
Hane: Vis what?
Barten: The thing that if you keep using power you'll start using your body as fuel.
Hane: Oh, yeah. Well...not with that power, my ice one can take a toll on me.
Barten: Ah, alright then.
Hane: Good luck, I'll work on the base for now.
Barten: Sounds good. If I don't come back, well good luck out there.
Hane: Did you run out of Dimension Orbs?
Barten: Yeah, my DOs are gone entirely.
Hane: Can't you ask the higher ups to give you more?
Barten: We can't talk to them directly, they just send us wherever they want.
Hane: Oh, that sucks.
Barten: The price to pay for power I guess.
Hane: True.
Barten: Well, see ya.
The two said their goodbyes just in case as Barten walked out the door. He only had to walk a few feet to notice something weird. It was The Stranger, he sat atop a small building.
Barten: Something tells me the undead disappearing suddenly had to do with you.
The Stranger: Whatever gave you that idea?
He was holding a ball of fire in his hand.
Barten: Why couldn't you do that sooner?
The Stranger: I told you, I was under the radar. Can't use my powers too much or the higher ups will find me.
Barten: Yet you're wearing that thing around your head. Why?
The Stranger: Well, you already know what happens when someone who is too powerful in their own universe happens to just...exist.
Barten: Yeah, we get selected by the higher ups and become dimension hoppers.
The Stranger: Correct. Did you also know they destroy that universe and timeline? They reset it back to zero. That way, the Dimension Hoppers can clear it once again. Imagine if someone who is selected to be a DH gets too powerful.
Barten: Would they erase you? The entire timeline we're in?
The Stranger: I have no clue, and frankly I don't want to find out.
Barten: Oh...
The Stranger: Yeah, just be careful with the power you get. Tell that to your friends, Feyn, Jules and Ivy.
Barten: How exactly do you know them?
The Stranger: I happen to have met them some time ago in another time.
Barten: Ah, understandable.
The Stranger: Now watch out because I can't use any more power for a while.
Barten: Got it. I'm gonna go and find resources to help clear this place.
The Stranger: Godspeed.
Barten kept walking north. As he passed a ravine he looked down and saw some water. He decided to mark it down to explore later. He kept walking and saw some houses in the distance. He thought about what The Stranger had said, how universe got reset. He started to think about how people used to inhabit these houses. He felt sick knowing that everyone in his universe was gone but felt relief after knowing that his universe had found peace. He shook his head and kept walking forward. He saw a strange red pile of boxes littered outside a house. When he got close to inspect it, he noticed it was a massive amount of Cheez-It boxes. He threw the box immediately on the ground, grabbed something from his backpack and created a fire with flint and steel.
Barten: Even now you haunt me you dammed squares!
He watched as the pile of boxes started to burn. A few seconds later he kept looking for other houses when he saw another pile of red boxes. He instinctively grabbed the flint and steel again but when he looked again, he noticed another pile. Consecutively he noticed two more. He felt sick again just looking at them. He created a bunch of TNT from materials he had on him and place it in between all the boxes. He moved away and shot at the fuse, starting the countdown.
Barten: You godforsaken squares will never cease to exist, will you?
As the sound of an explosion reached the ears of Hane and The Stranger, a sudden horde of undead started circling around Barten. "If I can destroy these things, I'll fight any foe." he said, looking around to see if there were more piles. When he saw no other sign of the boxes, he grabbed his sword with one hand and the CZ-75B with the other, ready for a fight.
