A week had passed since the team had moved into their new home and begun living as their alternate selves. Since that first day, Spencer had gotten out of bed rest, and he and Emily also already had to see a private doctor.

The doctor informed the team that the severe head trauma that Emily and Spencer experienced that gave them a concussion and amnesia had left them with only a few memories of their childhood. The said that he didn't know if they had had these memories since they woke up in the hospital, or if they simply recovered them, but either way, it was a really good sign.

While Hotch, Rossi, JJ, Morgan, and Penelope listened to the doctor's report in the living room, Emily and Spencer sat on the floor in their bedroom.

"I wonder why that doctor was asking all those dumb questions." Spencer said as he pulled his converse off and set them by his bed. "Asking what we remember and stuff? They already know that we don't know what happened. Why ask again?"

"Well something's wrong with us. Yesterday I was in primary school but then I wake up in a hospital and they're telling me I'm an adult. It sounds right, but... I don't know. I just feel so old." Emily stood up and climbed onto her bed.

Spencer squinted at her face. "No... I'd say you're in your thirties."

Emily scowled. "Well--" She paused. "You look like-- I hate that you look young enough to be in a boy band. And that you have the hair for it." She stood up on her bed.

Spencer climbed up onto his bed and stood up, too."I know a little NSYNC if that'll satisfy you."

Emily leaned against the wall, laughing. "Bye, bye, bye?"

"BYE BYE!" Spencer finished, jumping onto the floor and spinning.

The two sat down, holding their sides and laughing. After a moment, the laughter quieted and stopped. The two layed there, Spencer on the floor and Emily on her bed.

Emily rolled over to look down at him. "Spencer?"

"Yeah?" He sat up.

"What do you think happened to all of us?"

"Well, they said we were held hostage and that we all got separated."

"Yeah, but they don't even know what happened to us to make us forget everything... Will we ever find out?"

Spencer crossed his legs and stared at the floor. "They said we have retrograde amnesia. Old memories come back faster than newer ones, so the attack will be the last thing we remember. All we can do is hope the rest comes back. So... hopefully?"

Emily sat up and shook her head. "Well we do know that this thing was bad enough to get us all in Witness Protection. I just wish I could remember it..."

"It might be better that you settle in before you do. They made it sound pretty bad."

Emily shrugged. "Well it doesn't matter, anyway. What does matter is that we are the only two who don't know what happened. Anything could happen, covers are so easy to blow. We have to have each other's backs. No matter what."

Spencer nodded solemnly. "Do you wanna make a blood pact, or..." He cracked a small smile.

"Actually--" She began.

"No. What? Why would you want-- never mind. I'll keep a lookout for anything suspicious. And I'll tell you if I see anything."

Emily nodded. "And I'll do the same for you."

The two held out their pinkies at the same time. Laughing, they twisted them together.

"It's not as good as a blood pact, but it'll have to do." Emily said with a grin.

There was a knock on the door, and it opened.

The two whipped around to see Morgan standing in the door frame.  He stopped when he saw the two, still mid- pinky promise.

"Uh...." Morgan began. He grinned. "So what's goin' on?"

"Would you say no if we asked to do a blood pact?" Spencer asked.

Morgan's expression changed to concern. "Um... yes?"

"We're doing the alternate version of that." Emily said.

"Okay...." Morgan said slowly. "Well, we're meeting in the living room. Arthur says we can't avoid the neighbors any longer. We have to go to a cookout tonight."
