"so how was your date?"

"it was not a date," y/n denied, subconsciously bringing a hand up to scratch her neck. she looked at her watch on her other hand, and said, "ohhhhh, you have extra classes soon, denki, let's go get you prepared!" she pushed him back into the school buildings and up the stairs.

"good try at changing the subject," denki grinned, turning around to face her, "but it doesn't work on me!" he said, pointing at himself with his thumb triumphantly.

she sighed, letting go of him. he nearly fell on her, but she steadied him, asking, "do you want me to tell jirou-"

his eyes widened, his face now red all over. the exact face of someone absolutely in love. he squeezed his eyes shut. "i can't hear you! i can't hear you!" he chanted, sprinting off to his nearest class. "oh," he said, suddenly leaning over the railing of the staircase, "we have a movie marathon tonight! don't be late!"

"i'll try not to!" she called, her hands cupped around her mouth to amplify her voice. he showed her an ok sign and a grin before leaving for his supplementary classes.

she strolled outside into the courtyard, occasionally glancing up at the overcast sky, covered by dark grey clouds. it's going to rain! she found a sheltered bench, sat down and waited. she was supposed to wait until denki was finished with his classes anyway, so the rain didn't affect her at all.

but when she had to head home, the rain was her enemy. she didn't particularly like it in the first place. she liked cool and breezy weather, not wet weather, and especially when it was humid after the rain. that sort of weather made her feel itchy everywhere.

"l/n?"

she jumped at the sound of her name, turning immediately. shouto stood beside the bench she was sitting on, an open umbrella in one hand. "it's quite coincidental that i'd see you here, considering everyone else in our level has already left." the other was offered to her. "do you by any chance, lack an umbrella?"

she grinned. "nope, i'm waiting for denki. he has extra classes, and today's our movie marathon night. we have it every week. that's why i'm still here-even after most of our level have been dismissed. i was with him to wait for his extra classes to start."

todoroki didn't look exactly happy, but he didn't look upset either. "so you're going to stay here for half an hour?" he paused, withdrawing his hand onto his chin to think. "do you like him?"

she choked on air, and he reached out to pat her back. "are you okay?"

"yeah, i'm fine. no, i don't like him-not romantically, anyway. plus, he has someone he likes."
