Cruel twist of fate

CHAPTER 7

SOPHIA'S POV

I stood in Infront of the large size mirror in the room, it's been a while since I dressed up, and I thought I looked pretty good, I packed my curly hair in a bun, and I wore a mini black skirt and a white misguided top.

"There is no way I'm letting you wear something like that" Lorna shrieked looking at me from head to toe.

Though I wasn't in the mood to go anywhere, I couldn't cancel my plans with her. I had promised to buy her dinner when I got my first paycheck, she had already put in so much effort, and canceling the date would be unfair.

she wore a red leather skirt, a black strapless top, and red Prada heels to match her skirt, her hair was packed into a fine ponytail and her nail neatly painted white, she looked enchanting and I wouldn't mind just holding her handbag as an assistant.

"Hold up babe, don't you think you are too dressed for just a date with me?"

I asked finding it a bit weird that she looked too good, almost like she was dressed to impress someone, she was a  fashionable person but it was obvious she put in the extra effort.

", I guess you caught me! might be meeting David briefly" she replied shyly biting her lower lips and playing with her hair.

" I should have told you but he called that we meet up and I couldn't cancel our date, Richard also wants to meet me". She added with a sly smile.

The mention of Richards's name made me feel uneasy. after our last encounter, he didn't want me anywhere near him, I even got my paycheck earlier than expected, It won't be a surprise if he canceled our contract.

I couldn't bring myself to tell her I judged him without listening to his side of the story.

"Babes, Are you okay ?" she asked, seeing I was lost in thoughts.

" I don't think I can come with you, how bout you and David just have a nice date," I said hoping she would let me off the hook.

"No way! I would rather cancel seeing David than cancel with you. Is everything okay babes?"
She said with a worried smirk.

" I do not have a very good relationship with Richard, so it's best I avoid him" I replied.

"Then this is an opportunity to build one with him, you guys might bond better outside this mansion," she said with a glimmer of hope in her eyes.

I knew there was no way to convince her and I didn't want her to cancel her date just because of me.

" Okay fine, but you don't have to push, if he isn't comfortable around me, just let him be," I replied reluctantly.

"Yay! Now please let's get you changed" she said bringing out a little box and trying to sort out some dresses.

"Well I got some dresses, I felt might look good on you, so go ahead and try them on," she said happily, she was prepared for tonight and I wish I could feel the excitement too.

She picked a strapless blue body con dress that screamed sexy without me having to wear it and I shook my head to show I wasn't too comfortable.

it's been ages since I wore a bodycon dress I wasn't comfortable enough with my body, but after I gave birth a lot changed, I was no longer a size 8 like Lorna.

" Come sit here" she beckoned on me like a kid, to sit so she can help with my hair and makeup, I wanted to object but I already knew I was going to wear that strapless blue dress and have my make-up perfectly fixed by my best friend.
