Cruel twist of fate

CHAPTER 14

Sophia's pov

Thought of Richard lingered in my mind after the incident with his father. I still couldn't figure out what I felt for him, and I was afraid to dive deep into what I could be feeling.

A knock on my door threw me back to reality, I took a glance at my phone to check the time, it was just a few minutes past 7 in the morning and Lilly was still asleep,  I didn't want to disturb her.

I knew it might be Richard and I was dying to see him, I jumped out of bed, unbothered about my messy looks.

I opened the door to see him leaning by the door. He wore these black Reebok sports shorts and a grey vest, I could see his wide shoulders, and the sweat from his face dropped gently on his chiseled chest and rippled abs.

my mind wandered to an image of him at the gym working out, I became jealous of all the women that most have stared at his body.

"Damn" I blurted out, he could tell the reason for my exclamation, he knew that his body was a work of art.

"Are you okay sweetie?" He asked gently.

The fact that he called me sweetie was quite disturbing,  I knew it was a joke yet I couldn't get used to it.

"Sweetie?,  C'mon Richard there is nobody around, you can just call me by my name".

"I like it when I call you endearing names, I'll keep doing it, we have  barely six months to love the hell out of each other ?"

It was so easy for him to play around but love was such a deep word for him to be playing around with, it made me kind of angry.

"Why are you here though? I asked.

", so I was thinking since it's a Sunday and I'm free, I would love to take Lilly out, I don't know how that sounds. He said

I was excited that he wished to spend time with her but then I got scared, spending time with her was going to make her attached and the last thing I wanted was for her to get hurt when this all ends.

" I appreciate your kindness, but I'll have to decline ".

"Why?   Are you envious I'm taking her out without you? He said with a sly smile.

"Hell no, I do not feel the need to go out with you, you know that? " I said

"Then let me ask her myself," he said pushing me out of the way gently and making his way into my room.

" she is still asleep, you can't do this," I said trying to stop him, but too late she was already awake.
Her eyes twinkled with amusement when she saw him.

"Good-morning princess, did I disturb your sleep," he said, gently sitting on the bed and stroking her dark shiny hair, she smiled at him and hugged him, she didn't even look at me.

It was noticeable she liked him a lot and that's why I needed him to keep his distance. I stood there watching both of them act goofy, she still didn't look at me, and I felt a little neglected.

" hello young lady, won't you say Good-morning to your mother at least,"  I said with a frown.
She turned to look at me and smiled shyly, she looked happy that he was there.

"Good morning mummy," she said finally letting go of his hand and moving towards me for a hug, I hugged her tightly and kissed her forehead.
