A little nervous, You do as Abigail says. You walk up to Duncan and his friends.
"Hey Duncan! Say, when we're you planning on introducing me to this bunch? I've never met your friends before!"
"Oh, okay." He points at the shortest in the group. "That's my best friend, Jordan. The tall ones Jacob, then that's Henry, Steven, Kade, and Cecilia." He finally points to the girl, who's name is apparently Cecilia. She smiles.
"Hi, that's me! I'm Cecilia, but my friend call me Lia!"
You snort. "Lia? That's gay. I'm gonna call you Cece."
She looks surprised and stumbles on her words. "Oh, okay! I like that. You're Grace, right? Duncan's told me about what you're like in class. You're crazy!" Cecilia laughs. So far she seems nice but you're still petty about all the time she's probably spent with Duncan.
"If you're gonna call me Cece, then in that case, your new name is...um. What do you like to be called."
"Grace is fine."
"But I want something badass for my badass new friend. What about Ace?"
You look up at her. "I fucking love that."
"Right? I'm great at nicknames. It's my only talent apart from singing and playing the piano."
"Cecilia, you play the piano?" You thought that was pretty impressive as the only instrument you had even tried to learn was rooted from your weird ukulele phase in the fourth grade.
"Yeah, my dad helps me write songs and stuff. I was on the radio a few years ago!"
Your jaw is slacked. She's beautiful, talented, AND famous. How are you going to compete with her and win Duncan over? Actually, never mind him. All you want to do is learn more about this girl. The captivation and sparkle she had in her eyes made your thoughts wander until you eventually snap out of it when you hear the bell ring.
"Oh. I have to go, I have P.E. I'll meet you at this spot at lunch, okay?" I smile.
"Of course! It's great to finally have a friend who's a girl." She walks away.
You still don't like her though.
