You couldn't tell if the gritting of your teeth was because of sheer anger or a reflex caused by scraping your knuckles against the school bathroom wall, but FUCK you were so angry.
You were always the last to know, yet the the first to care.
On the first day back at school after Peter Pan, your friend Kiera had some interesting news about her cousin, River, and Cecilia.
For context, theres a few words you could use to describe River, but never in a full sentence; unloyal, shifty, immoral, two-faced, or even downright disgusting.
You had told Cecilia about him once, a few months ago, when he had dated a girl in your class, gotten bored, asked another girl out without dumping the first one, got rejected and got dumped after your friends had told her what was going on.
Since then, he had asked out multiple girls in your grade, including you... it was short-lived crush after you told him to shove a pole up his ass.
So it was pretty infuriating to come back to school just to find out he had wooed Cecilia and after THREE DAYS of being away from school, the infamous man-whore was in a relationship with the girl you loved.
You were so angry you felt like ripping your skin off and gouging your eyes out of their sockets. The first period bell rings.
Cecilia and River were walking down the hallway. He had his arm wrapped around her and she was literally glowing. The happiness and glee radiating off of her was so strong that she looked like she was about to take off and float up into the sky.
The crush you had on her was so immense you felt like your heart was about to rip in half. Who, just a week and a half ago did you share the most enticing kiss of your life? HER.
And now she was with him.
It wasn't fair.
By the time you had gotten to class, it had properly sunk in. The more you thought about it, the more you felt your heart drop further into your stomach. You were so angry you felt like you were about to burst into flames.
After an hour and a half, the recess bell went.
You awkwardly stood next to Cecilia and River while you furiously wrestled with the sick feeling in your gut. It's not like you had anyone else to hang out with. Most of the time you just talked with Cecilia, Kiera, and some other girls, but apparently Cecilia was too occupied with River trying to suck her lungs out of her throat. Wow. What a bad looking kiss, you thought.
Once recess was over, you could see that Cecilia and River hug before heading to their next classes, his hands traveling dangerously close to her ass. Revolting.
Honestly, you felt like she wasn't worth fighting for anymore. It would at least be a month or two before they would break up, and you didn't know if you could wait that long.
But that night you lay in bed thinking about everything that had happened that day, and that was the night you realized that she was ALWAYS worth fighting for. Whatever it takes.
And you weren't afraid to get physical.
