Your eyes slowly opened as you groggily, and unwillingly, woke up to the sound of birds chirping. Within five seconds, the realization hit you that today was the day that you and Cecilia we're going to pick strawberries in the local field! How romantic! You jump out of bed and climb up the ladder to jump on Cecilia and wake her up when you realize she's left bed and is apparently already awake. You walk into her bathroom and see her brushing her teeth, bedhead and all. Despite this, she's still somehow standing there in all her intangible raw charm. You smile at her in the mirror and she turns to smile back at you.
"Are you excited to go picking strawberries today?" You ask.
"Of course!" She happily replies, "All we can eat strawberries for us!" She smiles. You come up behind her and rest your head in the crook of her neck and hold her waist. "You have warm skin." You say bluntly.
Her cheeks sport a deep shade of scarlet. You can't help but giggle at that.
"Well then." She giggles. "You probably want to try your best to get some good sized, bright red ones!" She grabs her strawberry basket and starts to head outside to her mums car, but stops to look back at you and smiles a dimpled smile. "Are you coming?"
You follow her to the car and open the door for her. "Thanks!" she says.
You and Cecilia sat in the backseat in silence as Cecilia's mum drove you to the strawberry field. It was a fifteen minute car ride there. Both you, and Cecilia, never liked awkward silence. This was the mutually comfortable silence, though. It was, to your thoughts, the best silence in the world.
The car pulls up at the strawberry field and you both get out of the car. Cecilia waves goodbye as her mum drives off and you both run into the strawberry fields with your baskets.
You look across the field searching for the prettiest strawberries in the bunch with Cecilia close behind you. You couldn't help but steal glances at Cecilia after last night. Did she really love you? Could you two be a couple? You wish you had all the answers.
"I'm always amazed at how red and beautiful strawberries are." Cecilia said with a sigh, which pulled you from your thoughts and back into reality.
You take a second to let yourself appreciate the strawberry field. The strawberries were a bright ruby red shade, deliciously curved, and looked perfect. You and Cecilia picked four large strawberries. You chose the plumpest strawberries in the bunch.
"These are gonna be so good!" She said, excited.
You couldn't help but think about how beautiful she looked right now. She was wearing a light pink, strapless top and denim shorts that probably came from a H&M's girl's section. She was smiling a bright smile and her hair flew lightly with the breeze. Her smile was so captivating to you, you just couldn't get over it. You felt like over the past few weeks you really started developing a crush on her, and you didn't want anything to come between you two ever again.
Your heart beat started to rise as you took a step closer towards Cecilia, but you knew what you wanted to do. Hopefully, she knew too.
You took both of Cecilia's hands and intertwined them in your fingers. You leaned your forehead against hers as your noses brushed against each other. You let go of Cecilia's hands and steadily trace them up her arms to her shoulders, then drape your arms around her neck. She puts her hands on your waist and leans in.
Maybe time stopped when your lips met hers, but the excitement only intensified. Cecilia's heart pounded in her chest and her knees got weaker. A shiver went up her spine and she felt her cheeks burn up.
You both pulled away to catch your breath. Breathless, you laughed.
"That was amazing." She agreed.
Cecilia giggled and moved closer to you again.
You felt the same instant connection you had felt last night. You felt like nothing could ever come between this, and you. As if time had stopped right there, you both stood in the middle of the strawberry field, fixated on one another. It was almost as if no one else existed, nothing was real.
Standing there alone in the fields, eyes glued to each others, after the greatest, most passionate, alluring kiss of your life, you finally realized.
You had fallen completely in love with Cecilia.
