Case 2 - "Blood Bank"
Zass held me close and rocked me gently back and forth as I wept for my lost family, the future that had been stolen from me and the experiences in my life that had led me to him again. But then I took a deep breath and thought about where I was, the true things in my life now and how much Zass was a part of everything that was good. I wanted to talk about the images I had seen, but first I wanted to kiss Zass, like he'd never been kissed before, not in all his 675 years on this earth.
I proceeded to try.
Once Scott had cried himself out and kissed me like he was drowning and I was his life preserver, he fell asleep tucked against my side. I cradled him close to me. It is amazing that this totally wonderful man has grown into the kind, funny, beautiful person I was holding, even without all the loving relationships most had to base their outlook on. I quickly sorted through the images that I had seen when bonding with Scott and started from the beginning. He had few memories from his early childhood, but that was to be expected. The one memory that he had of the accident itself was thankfully fuzzy. His parents had died on impact, but Scott had fortunately been in a proper safety seat and harness, the small boy had been sleeping on the way home from a visit to an older relative, his Oma? And had been swaddled in blankets to keep him warm as well. That extra padding had saved his life, being in the back of the car when it was a head on collision had probably played a part too.
Because it wasn't another car that had hit them. It was a Supernatural creature.
I wondered about his Oma and why he had gone into the system, but then as I sorted through more memories I realized that she'd been old when her Daughter and Son-In-Law had died in the accident. I guessed she hadn't been able to look after him for long. I hoped Scott had lots of positive memories of her. I found myself not looking at the painful ones that had flashed before me. I didn't want to go there just now, because another memory of my own was intruding. That night in the snow, the night I first saw Scott.

Flashback
"Hell." I heard the squeal of brakes and then the smash of glass and metal screeching that meant he had bloody well run across the highway and taken out a car. That stubborn Gargoyle wasn't going to get the chance to be brought before the Council if he continued to take out humans like this. They'd just sign his death warrant and put a bounty on his head.
I raced through the trees and stopped at the edge of the road. Large footprints were imprinted in the snow leading to the edge of the asphalt, and down the bank, then across the road. I ripped a branch off the nearest tree and started wiping those tracks away. When I got to the car, I looked inside and saw the two occupants, one sniff told me they were deceased. The front of the car was totally caved in. They must have died on impact. Damn, another two to add to Francis's growing list. I knew that these two would be the last straw. I quickly swept away the remaining tracks, carefully leaving enough on the other side of the road and marking their location in my mind so that I could follow them later.
I sniffed the air and looked for a particular scent. There... I ran into the wood, up wind and found some deer eating the last remaining leaves on a bush. I got the biggest one in my sights and pounced. The rest scattered while I broke the deer's neck in one swift movement to put it down without any pain. Then I crushed its rib cage in my arms. When I returned to the car and put the deer on the ground in front of the wreck, I could see some lights approaching. Good, someone would have a phone and be able to call 911. I brushed some of the fur from the deer and blood onto the front of the car so there would be transfer evidence. Although I didn't think that this far from civilization anyone would really question the visual evidence.
