Chapter 4. The Journey Ahead
It was no surprise that after I had told Judith I couldn't stay she would have busted into tears. "You shouldn't leave... we can both stay here.... Josh says there is enough room... please Jane stay with me." I shook my head sadly and hugged her to me. "I can't Judith, you know I can't. I have to get further away from them. I'm sorry I really am I would love to stay but I need to figure out some things... and maybe being on my own will help me a little bit."
It took about twenty-six minutes for her to finally give into me. Although it was hard to let her go I knew she'd be safe. She was with her mate. Someone that would charish her and guard her with his life. I turned to Josh and smiled. "Thank you for the offer to stay but I must sadly refuse. I have things I need to do places I need to be. If you ever need anything I will always be there. Just let me know." I walked to him and hugged him. Then I backed up waved bye to them all.
After they left I walked over to my stuff and started packing. The sun had risen around an hour ago and it was time I started heading south again. Time I started trying to find another home, get a job, earn money, and make a living as a normal human being.
I had been walking for almost all day when I came across a small pond with a brilliant blue waterfall that started thirty feet above it and disappeared into the bright blue water below. Paradise.
Dropping my stuff on the ground beside a huge oak tree, I walk to the water and stick my fingers in. Hot. That's odd. Its in the middle of November this water should be freezing yet it wasn't. Deciding to camp here I turned to walk back to my stuff, but soon stopped in my tracks because of what I saw.
Standing there was a boy with my duflebag in hand. He was holding it as if it was a weapon. Outraged to see someone going through my stuff I yelled out to him, " Hey you! Put my bag down! Haven't you ever heard not to mess with something that isn't yours?! Yeah that's right put it down."
His emerald eyes were wide as he slowly dropped my bag. It landed on the ground with a soft thud that russled up the leaves around it. His almost black hair was so long it almost touched his broad shoulders. It looked like it was supposed to be in an emo cut but it seemed to long for it to flip just right. His nose was slightly tipped up and straight. His lips were slightly damp as if he'd been licking them and they were still slightly parted showing pearly white teeth. His chin was strong and he had a faint look of designer stubble across his jaw.
Wow... I thought. This guy is hot. I shook that thought out of my head as I saw he was looking me over. Oops. I probably looked like crap.
I was covered in dirt from head to toe. My jeans were ripped at the knees, my one black shirt was now an almost muddly brown color. My hair I could feel was greasy and caked in mud. My face probably had dirt, mud, and smudged make up on it. My combat boots had broken and the heel of my left one was falling off.
This guy probably thought I was a hobo. I could feel my face turning bright red even under all the mud, as he chuckled and shook his head. "Do you need somewhere to stay? Or... a bath perhaps?" He was joking right? He hadn't looked me in the eyes yet but when he did he gasped. What the heck? Did I really look that bad? "Wow... your eyes.... there.... black..." Really?? Wow they never did that. Maybe he would let me have a place to stay for a little while. "Were you being serious when you offered me a place to stay?" I asked. Nodding he motioned for me to follow him. I wonder what waited for me at our destination. I guess I am going to see.
Let the journey begin.
