Chapter 9. Given a Helpful Hand.

The footsteps continued to get closer as I remained still, hoping that I blended in with the leaves that had fallen on top of me and around me from the trees above. He was close... really close. I watched as the bush on my right started to shake.

My heart began to pound, as his body began to emerge from the dark forest. I closed my eyes and began to whimper.

"Its okay...I promise I'm not going to hurt you. I'm here to help you." The guy said. I slowly opened my eyes to see a teenage boy standing in front of me. His hair was long and in his eyes. It was a beautiful mahogany brown. His green eyes were sincere and worried.

He reached down to the trap that had clamped onto my leg. He looked to me before saying. "Don't run please? I don't want you to be afraid of me...... I want to make sure your okay..."

I don't know why but I trusted him. He seemed as if he knew how to help...and he seemed to know I was something more than just a forest fox. So I stayed put as he opened the trap and pulled it off my leg. I watched as he stood up and chunked the trap into the woods as hard as he could. Then he turned back to me and got on his knees to examine my right front leg, the leg that had got caught in that ignorant trap. He made a face as held out his hands and looked up asking, "May I? Please.. you can't walk on that leg..."

For some reason I let him pick me up and carry me away. It hurt at first when he picked me up, but after he stood up and started walking it didn't hurt so much... it felt as if I was on a cloud.

I hadn't realized how much blood I had lost until we got to this pretty white house. The boy carrying me took me to a light blue bathroom, and laid me in the bathtub. That's when I realized how bad I I was bleeding. In the minute that the boy had disappeared to get a bandage for my leg the bottom of the bathtub had been covered in thick red blood.

"Holy crap..." He muttered as he walked back into the bathroom with all the stuff he needed to bandage my wound. He laid the gauges and medication on the sink. That was way to much stuff to give me... I mean hello I'm tiny... I'm a fox! He walked to the bathtub and looked at me sadly. "I need you to shift back into a person... I know your surprised that I know your human and that I know your a girl. I need you to do this for me though... its going to hurt... but it'll keep you from loosing so much blood."

Was he stupid? I didn't have a clue how to shift back, and how the heck did he know I was a girl?!

I looked up at him. He seemed to be waiting for me to do something that I couldn't. Then realization seemed to dawn on him, because he sat up suddenly while saying. "Oh... you don't know how to shift back... um... well... I'm not sure how to explain it. Do you remember how you shifted into a fox? Well...its sort of the same but you have to imagine yourself... um...every.... detail of yourself." His face had turned red at the end of his explanation. At first I didn't know why, but after a few seconds I understood. I was going to have to concentration on myself... all of myself. Meaning I had to imagine myself naked in order to change back... and he was going to be in the bathroom with me.... this... was going to be embarrassing....
