Somewhere...
"Agent 1118..."
A man was standing in his office, facing the window as he stared at the streets below him. He wore a dark blue suit and had white hair. His eyes were golden and focused.
He recently put in a call to his assistant to have him retrieve the agent. Since last year, the agent has been on hold, awaiting his next instruction from his superior.
Now, the superior has a mission that will be given to him soon.
'First, I need to know if he's capable'
A knock came from the door to his office. The office space was that of a typical layout. His desk was in the middle and was made of dark oak. On top the desk, a computer and a plant sat on it, along with a picture of him and his daughter, who looked to have white hair and was about five years old. The background showed them at an amusement park.
Another object on his desk was a certain book that was recently banned in all stores.
"You may enter."
The door swung open, revealing a cloaked, young man with white hair poking out from under his hood. The person walked inside and allowed the door to shut behind him. When he stopped, he bowed his head out of respect.
"Hello, sir. To what do I owe the pleasure?" Said the cloaked agent.
"Hmm," The man hummed before giving off a smile, "I'm glad to see you haven't lost your manners."
The cloaked agent picked up his head and tilted it to the side, "I'm afraid I don't know what you mean?"
The older gentleman strolled around his desk and stopped in front of the agent, facing him, "Well, after your little stunt last year, I was afraid you lost your way." He crossed his arms, "I almost thought of putting you in those readjustment courses, just to make sure."
After his superior said that, Agent 1118 felt a shiver go down his spine. His face did not falter, but his mind raced as he grew an uneasy feeling in his chest. However, as quickly as he felt it, it disappeared as his boss continued.
"Don't worry, though. After this, no such thing will happen. You have my word, so long as you continue following my orders." The man finished.
The agent bowed his head, "Thank you, sir."
The man waved his hand and turned around, "Don't push your luck. It can get annoying after a while. Anyway, I have a new assignment for you."
The man walked over to his desk and retrieved the book called unOrdinary. He turned back to face the agent, "Do you know what this book is about?"
Agent 1118 looked closely at the title and shook his head, "I'm afraid not."
The older man nodded his head, "Good, because this book, while it seems innocent, challenges everything we stand for in our world." He activated his ability and lit the book aflame, "Therefore, every copy needs to be destroyed before it can fall into the hands of a high-tier."
As the agent watched the ashes of the book fall to the floor, he asked a question, "Why a high-tier specifically?"
"Are you aware of these people known as 'Heroes'?"
