Alex sat by the corner store at the docks, a cigarette dangling between his fingers that hung off his bent knee. His eyes scanned the area, looking for that familiar figure of the man he yearned to see. An hour went by, then two, then three. And just as Alex was halfway through his pack of fags, he looked up to see the one he'd been looking for making his way over to where he sat.
And he didn't look too happy, despite the large sunglasses covering a majority of his face.
"Why the fuck are you here?"
He spat, the venom in his words quite audible.
"Wanted to see you."
Alex responded quietly, not quite able to look Miles in the eye yet.
"Wanted to gloat more like."
Miles scoffed in response. Alex just sighed and turned away, hating the way Miles' features could twist into hate so easily.
"You have to leave."
Turner raised an eyebrow, smiling humorously up at the man standing over him.
"You don't think I waited so many hours to see you for a reason?"
Miles paused at that, thoroughly confused.
"You waited here for me for hours?"
Alex stood up, reaching his arms out in a flourish. Miles flinched backwards instinctively and Alex took notice of this, taking a cautious step backwards to make him more comfortable. He pulled a comb out and pulled it through his slicked back hair.
All the while Miles looked on with thinly veiled interest, eyes scanning all the way from Alex's cuffed jeans that were ripped at the knees to the white tank top and that damned necktie that encircled the milky white skin of his neck. He wasn't tanned the way Miles was, what with being out on the docks all the time.
"Anyone ever told you you're gorgeous?"
Alex asked with a teasing smile. Miles looked taken aback and his cheeks flushed red, despite how much he wished they wouldn't. He opened his mouth but when words failed him, Miles just shut it after a few awkward moments.
"Flattery isn't going to make me forgive you for what you've done."
"Would you believe me if I told you I didn't do it?"
"To be honest? No, I wouldn't. I trust my eyes more than I trust anything a Turner says."
Despite what he claimed out loud, Miles had doubts. He'd been in such a state he really hadn't gotten a proper look at where the shot had come from. All he'd seen was Alex standing there with a gun in his hands standing next to his father who looked more pleased than anything. But remembering the way Alex's father had smiled and given his son a pat on the back...? It made him fly into a rage.
"Ramiro wasn't my fault, Miles. You have to understand I-"
Miles grabbed a handful of Alex's tank top and shoved him to the ground, snarling as he lost all control. It seemed Alex was good at getting him to do that.
"You're a liar!"
Alex grit his teeth and shook his head.
"I've told you I'm not a liar, yet you insist upon calling me one!"
He was annoyed, to say the least. He stood up and shoved Miles backwards, clenching his fists at his sides.
"Why won't you just listen to me?!"
He exclaimed in an exasperated tone. Miles took off his large sunglasses and Alex gasped as he saw the nasty black eye they'd been hiding underneath. Suddenly his anger dropped back down and he didn't feel too sure about fighting someone who had obviously already been through it.
"Miles, I don't think-"
Miles grit his teeth. There was that fucking pity again. He could see it in the man's eyes.
"I don't need your pity, you utter twat."
With that he stormed off and turned down the back alley next to the convenient store, noticing the shop owner giving him fearful looks. Not that he could blame him, most times fights like these would end up in a gunfight. And that meant somebody would be cleaning blood off the storefront's steps.
Alex ultimately followed him, reaching out and pulling his arm backwards to force the man to face him.
"My father was going to kill you, alright?!"
He exclaimed, eyes shimmering as though he might cry.
"He was going to kill you and I just shoved him at the last moment and-"
"Stop it."
Miles interrupted, eyes full of emotion as though he might cry too.
"Miles-"
Alex tried to continue.
"I SAID STOP IT!"
Miles screamed and threw a punch at Alex, who barely managed to dodge before getting hit by another one. He stumbled backwards and growled, rushing forward and hitting Miles in the side.
As they tussled in the back alley, Miles managed to slam Alex against the brick wall, effectively knocking the wind out of him. Alex wheezed and looked up at him with a pained expression. Kane had somehow managed to pull out his pocket knife from his trousers, pressing it threateningly against the man's neck.
Miles paused, breathing heavily. Alex looked up at him in a mixture of fear and confusion before Miles surged forward and caught Alex's lips between his own. The knife clattered to the floor, ultimately forgotten as Miles pushed his body against Alex's.
They fought for dominance but Miles ultimately won the fight, pinning the smaller man's hands over his head as they kissed. Alex was lost in Miles, the way his hair smelled of the salty ocean waves and that spicy cologne he wore. He squirmed beneath him, struggling to keep up with Miles tenacity. Whining into Miles' mouth as his lip was teasingly bit, his hands aching to grab at the man.
They pulled apart and panted into one another's shoulders. Alex was drowning in his closeness, nipping at the man's jaw, asking for more. But as he moved in for another kiss he was stopped when Miles stumbled backwards, eyes wide as he crudely swiped his hand across his lips. Then he paused to touch his lips gently with two fingers, terrified eyes settling on Alex.
"You can't tell anyone about this."
His voice was panicked and hushed, full of fear. Miles tanned face was flushed a handsome red, his long speckled black and white coat swaying in the ocean wind.
"I mean it! They'll kill me....."
Miles hissed when he received no response but this time Alex stepped forward, reaching a gentle hand out.
"Miles, please. Can't we just-?"
Miles slapped his hand away, his breathing picking up as he backed away in horror at the realization of what he'd just done.
"Leave me alone!"
He screamed before turning to run away. Alex's heart sank as he watched the man who'd just taken his breath away with the single best kiss he'd ever had run from him like he was the bloody plague.
