28) First Mission

KK Back to the story...

The world round them was silent. As the air got colder and the night got darker, the only noise you could hear was the rustling of the leaves as they swept across the concrete path as if they were running away from something. Cautiously, James peered his head through the gap to see if anyone had arrived at the house. The owner, Ms Flint - a Squib-  hadn't been able to catch them yet as they've made sure to keep their guard extremely low, at least until they come

As a starter of their experience in the Order of Pheonix, Dumbledore had decided to give the first case to Lily, Alice, James, Remus and Frank. They were to mark the house they were suspecting incase of any Death Eaters. While sending Clara, Sirius and Marlene to put up enchantments in neighbouring towns.  Additionally, Dumbledore had been strict to tell them not to put enchantments over this house as this may trigger the death eaters and the plan was to capture the few death eaters coming in this house and try to gain a few bits of information out of them. James of course was not happy with this plan but after a few scoldings from Lily, he was as silent as he can get. I mean he is James Potter.

Lily suddenly stiffened as she felt a cold air pass through, she looked over at Remus who mirrored her expression. She turned the other way to face James, who was once again peering his head through the gap, he turned back round to face them and reading his expression, she knew they were here. 

"It's ok, it's only a squib, this one is easy!" a distant, unfamiliar voice echoed throughout the silence of the city. 
"Yeah but I've got a feeling this one is going to be a more complicated one. Oh wait who am I kidding, these type of people don't deserve to be defined anything other than muggles!" Another added in. The laughter carried out throughtout the back of the house. 
" A bit overconfident aren't you?" James muttered under his breath, Lily nudged him. he sent her an apologetic look, he knew how nervous Lily was as these could be the same death eaters that tore her family apart. Lily just shook her head and smiled to him. 

They had to make sure that when the black-hearted people crashed into the house, they were on their toes, they had to make sure that Mrs Flint was ok.  Although Lily was wondering why Dumbledore had sent 5 of them here even if there were only 2 of them coming. 
"Bombarda Maxima!" one of them screamed. 'What was the point of ruining the house?' James thought in his head. While the explosion went off, Remus clicked open the lock in the backdoor and the 5 of them swept inside like wind. 

"Awwww look at the poor old Lady, frightened in her chair."  one of the guys cooed.
"I have an idea, how about we..., " both the group and his fellow colleague wanted to hear what he was going to say next, "torture her first, not like she can do anything anyway, besides she deserves to die a bit more of a... painful death." The moment Remus had heard that, he couldn't believe someone cold be that prejudice. From his mother's side, he had an aunt who was a Squib but never did they ever make her feel like such a low-life. It wasn't their fault if they became a Squib was it?  (BTW - I made this bit up for the story) Remus was never close with anyone in his family except his mother and father  but he knew about the rest of his family, when he was younger his mother or father would always tell him funny stories about their childhood. 

"How dare you!" Remus stormed into the room. The rest of them followed behind.
"Ahhh, what a pleasant surprise!" one of them smirked. In her head, Lily was thinking off all the ways she could use to wipe that disgusting smirk off of his face. The first one had curly hair, going upto his shoulders, while the other one had no hair what so ever.
"Come and see the show!" the curly haired man added.
"How dare you act like it's a show! You're about to murder an innocent person if we hadn't stepped in!" Alice screamed, pointing her wand at his neck.
Knowing her idea, Lily hurriedly stupified the other guy and Alice had already frozen him. 
"Um would someone like to remind me, what us guys are here for?" James asked, however he was not surprised at what the girls had done. They had power, that's for sure!

"Us, if those girls were here then it would've only been too easy to defeat wouldn't it," James heard someone speak behind him, as he turned around he saw 5 additional death eaters lined up next to the guy speaking. 
"Bet you 5 galleons, 2 of these are from my year of Hogwarts," James whispered to Frank. 
"James!" Lily scolded him. 
"Excuse me! You think that we  can't beat you! -" Alice was shouting. The poor lady still sitting in her armchair, must have been traumatized. 
"Um Alice, let's stay back!" Frank said, trying to bring her back.
"Uh no Frank, this moron thinks I can't beat him coz I'm a girl, who does he think he is!" Alice screamed, once again.
"Alice just calm down, you'll do something you'll regret if you keep acting like this," Frank said calmly. Knowing he was right, Alice stepped back into line with the rest of her friends. She heard someone trying to stiffle a laugh behind her, so without a warning she turned around and punched the person behind her. 

Alice turned back around and smirked in Lily's direction who gave her a quick high-five. 
"Stupefy!" The man aimed right at Alice, whicle her back was turned. 
"Protego!" Lily shouted, standing in front of Alice , "how dare you aim at someone while their back is turned." she fumed.
"Lils, maybe-"
"Oh no, not anymore, I listened once but this moron thinks he can shoot a speel at my best friend while her back was turned!" 
"Stupefy!" she shouted and the man had flown to the other side of the house.  Before the others could cast a single spell she cast an Impedimenta on the whole group. Unable to move, the rest of the group helped her knock oit those death eaters, and she cast a 'Bombarda Maxima' to stop from one of the guys escaping. 

"Honeslty, why did Dumbledore send 5 of us, he could have just sent Lily and Alice and the lady would have been fine!" James said before apparating, grabbing the collars of 2 unconcious death eaters. Agreeing with him, Frank disapparated holding one more death eater. The others were obliviated and once they gain conciousness, they would think they lived a simple muggle life. 
"Ma'am, are you ok?" Remus asked, crouching down next to her. 
"Yes, yes, I'm fine thank you very much. It will take me a long time to clean all of this up though," she said rising from her seat and picking up all of the small pieces of brick that had been broken.
"Don't worry about that, we'll do it." Lily stood up and verbally cast a spell around the house, so everything went back to normal. 
"Thank you dears, thank you very much," 
"Your welcome Ma'am!" 
The rest of them apparated on the spot back to the Order of the Phoenix hideout.

"Perfectly played!" were the first words they heard as their feet touched the floor, "3 death eaters taken and not a single scratch." Dumbledore had continued. 
"Honestly, if you had just sent Alice and Lily, they would have been bac in a single second." James said. 

Their first mission had gone really well, let's just hope all the other will be like that as well. 
This was the first day when Lily realised, that she isn't safe in Hogwarts anymore, she is out in the real world now and will have to fend for herself, but she has and will always have her fiance and all her friends with her for every step of the way.
