What is the difference between falling and flying? When you fall, it hurts. You scrape your knee and have to pour that god awful peroxide shit on it. When you fly, at first it might be scary... gaining a center of gravity so you don't just float through an atmospheric layer, but eventually you get the hang of it. Some people shoot so far into the sky that they either find a cloud to rest on, or they lose control and come plummeting down. Sometimes, though, you reach a midpoint, a point of comfort. You can still clearly see the ground but you've just grazed the clouds... and while it sounds all nice and dandy... Everything that goes up, must come down.
Imagine you're jumping on a trampoline, longing to only go higher and higher. You feel exhilarated and energized. Your feet meet the tension of the strong material, stretched and mechanized, to send you up into the air like a rocket into space. You fold your knees, your hair untamed and wild as you fly back up, only to be suddenly stuck. You feel gravity stop, keeping you several feet from the ground. For the young, adolescent mind this might be the dopest shit ever... But you grow up. You lose that spark that told you zero gravity would be your superpower, if you could pick one.
Now, you can't get back that gravity you once had. The weird thing you learned about as a kid that pissed you off because you couldn't climb walls like Peter Parker, or Spider Pig for the kids whose parents let them watch The Simpsons at age six. Something that now, psychologically, keeps you... aware, or realistic. Grounded. Some people like that... the oblivion. They like being a fool and watering the real shit down to ignore life's issues. They love letting go of all control and chasing some adrenaline high that tells them to get on one of those roller coasters that go upside down. I mean... I guess to some people, that lack of control is fun.
But I hate heights. I hate the appending fear that comes with the upward clicks of a roller coaster chain. I mean to me, you're being pulled inside of a metal box by a thin strip of rubber, some chains and a machine. Yeah, fucking scary. I mean... have you seen how many times people have gotten stuck? And what's to say those chains or rubber strips don't just give out and send you tumbling back to earth. You become so amazed by the excitement that comes with the roller coaster... and then suddenly that thrill has led to devastation and chaos.
But we all thought we could fly at one point or another... I just held onto that for too long. After all, the butterfly's average life span is about two weeks. We all find them so pretty though...
The beauty, the flight... the chaos.
That was what it was like... falling for him.

Song : Gravity by Sara Bareilles
A/N : hi ! so this is my first fan fiction... you knew that already.
I want to make a few notes before this gets going. no lyrics used in this book are mine ! all songs will be credited to the writers. this book was also deeply inspired by Cherry, written by Emma Cantrell- Miller, or fuxkingharrry on wattpad. If you've not read that book, i 100000% suggest you do, because it's pretty fucking good. also, what's up with people stealing her work? cmon now...
moving on, this book won't have smut. im sorry if this is disappointing but as the writer, it just doesn't fit the book in my opinion. when the first chapter is published, in the author's note there will be the character inspiration list. if you're not already following her, the main character has an instagram page, @edencharlottedevotion.
thank you so much for reading and i'll see ya soon ! :D
