Life Partner

It feels like the rings are screaming at me. One ring is screaming Fred's name and the other is yelling Cedric's. I nervously take a drink to calm my nerves and give me some time. Fred or Cedric? Cedric or Fred?

Shit. All the juice is gone. Everyone is looking at me. Waiting for me to say something. I feel pressured and a little light headed. This is too much. Oh god Sinthia, just pick someone. I took a deep breath and cleared my mind completely. And the answer came to me. It all made sense suddenly. How did I not see it before?

I opened my eyes. "Fred...I'm sorry, I can't be with you."

Fred looked crushed. "Sin...I thought...you said we were in love."

"We were. And I do love you, I just don't think it can work. Too much has happened. We're messy and toxic and we're bad for each other. Cedric just makes sense. I mean he was the first boy I ever loved and he waited for me. I'm his soulmate so he must be mine. I'm sorry Freddie, but I choose Cedric."

"No, you can't." Fred whispered. "It's supposed to be you and me. It was gonna be us against the world, Sin, what happened to that?"

"The world beat us." I whispered back. "I love Cedric and I want to be with him."

"I hate you Potter." Ginny said blankly.

"You love me." He grinned kissing her cheek.

"Well I don't." Ron grumbled. "How the hell did you know she'd pick Diggory? You too Hermione?"

"Oh I didn't know. I got smart and started betting what Harry did. Figured he knew what he was doing." Hermione smiled.

Cedric smiled. "I knew you'd pick me babe." He kissed me. "I knew we were meant to be."

"Of course we are. We always have been." I smiled.

Fred stood up abruptly. "I think I'll head to class early. I need some time."

"Fred wait." I called. "What about the ring?"

"Keep it Sin. It's yours. I don't want it." He walked off.

"Fred hold on." George ran after him.

"Sin are you serious?" Lee asked.

"Of course I am, why wouldn't I be?" I questioned.

"Fred's your best friend."

"Exactly. Friend. He was asking me to be more than that and it just didn't make sense. We dated for real for like a day. Am I supposed to choose that over what Cedric and I have? That's silly. Even you said yourself Fred wasn't an ideal partner."

"Yeah I guess I did. I'll see you later." Lee too got up and left.

Why was everyone mad at me for being in love with Cedric? I'd been dating him all year. Why is this a shock?

"Sin you've made me lose more money than ever this year." Ron shook his head. "Why can't you just do what I want you to?"

"No one told you to make bets on my love life Ronald." I laughed.

"Hey can we have that moment alone now?" Cedric whispered.

"Yeah of course." I smiled. "I'll see you guys at lunch. Sorry about you losing money."

Cedric and I went to his room. He sat me down on the bed and then got on one knee.

"Sin I have been in love with you since I was fourteen years old. You have been the driving force behind everything that I do. You gave my life meaning. You breezed in and gave my life excitement and thrills. You are the most beautiful person I've ever laid eyes on and the only girl I've ever loved. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want to be your husband and have babies and always be together. So Sinthia Watson, would you marry me?"
