"Wow, what a great time to be alive," Eddy said with the biggest grin as they filmed the intro of the 'You laugh you lose' video. He stopped himself before revealing anything more and instead started rambling about something else. They had already decided to keep it to themselves, the wedding.
It hadn't really been that well planned, because they didn't think they wanted anything big. The proposal hadn't been extraordinary either. Just them under the covers, foreheads gently bumped together, fingers intertwined. It was Brett who had mentioned it, as the softest whisper, how he'd love to call Eddy his husband one day. Eddy was quick to come back with a 'why not right now?' and that's how they had decided to just do it. Just tie the knot and get the formalities of it out of the way with just the two of them. They didn't think they wanted the attention of a big wedding anyway.
That was until a week before their day. It was like they just knew as they sat across from each other at the breakfast table that just getting the marriage certificate wouldn't be special enough.
It started with wanting to involve their immediate family, especially their mothers. They reasoned it between themselves with probably getting disowned if they didn't let them come. It would still be a small affair, though.
At least that was the plan for a bit, but then somehow their small wedding with just their immediate family turned into a small gathering before they were off to get the certificate. And the small gathering turned into a big gathering, as their mothers' ability to keep their mouths shut about it didn't exist.
Brett found he didn't mind. He discovered he loved watching Eddy pick out a suit and get his hair done for their day.
Four days before their day, Brett suggested that they could maybe have someone marry them in the back yard for the gathering, which by now included most their friends as well.
Turned out that suggesting that made Eddy finally admit he would actually love to have some proper flowers, and maybe some good food and a cake as well. The problem was just to find someone to deliver that in the short amount of time that was left.
That's when everything got hectic, but both of them loved every second of driving from flower shop to flower shop, from catering service to catering service and from bakery to bakery to find someone that could deliver in their incredibly short time frame. It was incredible how lucky they got with everything, and it wasn't until the very last day they got a call from one of the bakeries they had visited that they had a wedding cake that got cancelled between finishing it and delivery.
Their wedding day was the most wonderful day either of them had ever experienced. The one thing neither of them had thought about was music for walking down the improvised aisle together, but even that came along as Ray borrowed Brett's violin and pulled something neither of them had hward before out of his long list of memorized repertoire.
The party after lasted into the night, and both were so ready to curl up in bed together when Belle presented them with the wedding gift, something everyone had chipped in on despite them insisting on no gifts:
A honeymoon.Their honeymoon wasn't anything too big, a three day trip to Japan. It was perfect, and they made the most of every day exploring the city, the food, the culture, and every night there in the calm atmosphere of their hotel room.
They had barely stumbled into the house and slept a few hours after theie long flight back home before they had to get up and back to their usual schedule of filming and laughing together. Neither would have it any other way.
"It's been an intense week, guys... You don't understand," Brett sighed contently, thinking back. Intense, yeah, but amazing.
(Editor-san thought it would be hilarious to drop everyone a big clue in the first video they made when they came back, though: The Wedding March playing in the introduction.)
