I stood between Platforms 9 and 10. There was nothing in between, just a very solid brick wall. My ticket, which was sticking out of my right-side back pocket, said I needed to get onto Platform 9 3/4 to hop onto the Hogwarts Express to get to Hogwarts, a boarding school for magic. They invited me, saying that I possessed the qualities that the school asked for. I asked the station-master a few minutes ago about Hogwarts Express and he walked away without a response. I heard him mutter, "Idiotic time wasters... think they're being cool". I was still thinking when I caught a glance at the clock. I showed 10:55! I needed to get on the train by 11:00.
Shit, I'm going to miss the train.
I red-haired family bustled next to me and I moved over behind the wall between platforms 7 and 8. I heard the mom (I think she was the mom) talk to her sons. "You first Percy dear. Get onto the Platform. What was the number again?" A little red-haired girl piped up."Platform 9 3/4. Mum, can I please go on with them?" Yes, I was right. She is a mom. Oh, she's talking again. "No Ginny. Wait until next year. It will come by quickly. Percy go." Damn, she was strict. I watched as the boy, Percy was his name, right? Percy (weird name) was in front of the brick wall between 9 and 10, his trolley in front of him. Percy ran into the wall and suddenly vanished. He was gone. Thin air! I had to ask something.
I wheeled my trolley to the family when I saw two twins. They were talking. The mother couldn't distinguish them, as I heard from their discussion, but I could. One of them had long hair and a darker shade of eyes. He was also slightly taller. I heard the mom tell one twin, named Fred, to get on the Platform. When he ran through, I tapped the mom on the shoulder. She turned around and smiled at me sweetly. "Yes, dear? How can I help you?" I summoned my courage and asked, "I'm not sure how to get on the Platform. I've been trying for 15 minutes. Could you please help me?" She replied, "Of course dear. You need to run right between Platforms 9 and 10. It will get you into the Platform." The scared feeling inside must have shown on my face, because the mom said, "You can go with George, dear. What is your name?" I would have said Edith, but I thought, New place, new times, new name. "My name is Midnight Davis. What may I call you?"She smiled again. "Call me Mrs. Weasley. Now, I would love to chat, but you have a train to catch. Go on with George." The other twin came up and smiled. I don't know why, but I felt butterflies in my stomach when he smiled. "On 3, ok?" His voice was melodic. I nodded. "1, 2, 3." We both ran into the barrier. I braced myself for the impact, but it never came. I looked around and saw that we were on the Platform.
I thanked George and went to put my trunk with all of the others. I struggled and I went to find help. Before I could turn around, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I whipped around and saw Fred and George staring at me. "You need help?" Fred asked. "Yeah, I do. Thanks." I responded. The twins easily picked up my trunk of stuff and placed it there. Before I could talk away, the twins grabbed my arms, and playfully pulled me into a compartment. George told me, "You're gonna sit with us." I didn't have a problem with that, but the question escaped my lips before I could stop it. "Why do you want me here? You don't even know me."
With identical grins, Fred told me, "One: We do know you. You are Midnight Davis, most likely a muggle-born. Two: If we have a very pretty girl sitting in our compartment, people would get jealous."
Pretty girl? Me? No way.
"If you say so. And yes, I am muggle-born." Fred smirked. "See? I told you that we knew you." At that very moment, George gasped and ran out of the compartment. I was utterly confused. "What's going on?" Fred just smiled. "He's going to go break up with his girlfriend. I was shocked even more.
"He has a girlfriend?" Fred looked at me. "Why are we standing on a train? Sit down." And I did.
"So, to answer your question, yes, George has a girlfriend. Her name is Angelina Johnson. But today, he told me that he isn't interested in her anymore. They never do anything, like kiss, or date, or even hold hands. George told me that he likes another girl and he doesn't like Angelina anymore."
George likes someone else. For some reason, I felt a little sick to my stomach. Then I understood. All the symptoms indicate one, and only one thing.
I have a crush. My very first crush.
And it's on George Weasley.
