Chapter 4: Falling Back to the Norm

Perrie's POV

It was time for our interview, a Sunday one at that. I decided to say fuck it and drink some coffee. If all goes bad, I'll ask for a break, shift, and throw it up outside. Leigh sits in her car face first on the wheel asleep making me slide into the passengers seat and shake her awake. She jerks up and ends up hitting her head making the horn honk. "I'm up!", she says. "Where are the other two?", I question. She shrugs and lays her head back down as the back doors open. Jade climbs in with Jesy behind her and they both lean their heads on the windows. "Head count.", I say trying to make sure no one sent their double. "One.", Jesy says. Leigh muffles something into the wheel that sounds close enough to two so I take it. "Three.", Jade mumbles. "And four. Let's roll Leigh.", I say.

She drives off, still somewhat groggy and that's apparent in her driving as she's swerving a little. At a stoplight I turn her towards me and smack her all the way awake. She shakes her hand and sits up more before giving me a thumbs up. "Needed that.", she mumbles. We make it to the place and see that we're early. "Perfect for a nap.", Jade says pressing a button on the console. The inside of the car becomes dark and I try to fight down the sleep but I end up letting my head rest on the window and falling asleep.

Jesy's POV

A knock on the window startles me awake and I open the door to see our manager. "Hey Rodger.", I mumble rubbing my eyes. "You girls alright?", he questions. "Long night.", I answer shaking Jade awake. She slaps my hand and I pull her ear. "You bitch.", she says smacking my hand again. "Fuck off.", Perrie says nudging Jade's hand away. "Let's go girls, the interview starts in five minutes.", Rodger says trying to urge us on. Leigh slides out of the car and trudges towards the door. The rest of us follow after her and sit down on the couch in the room. I force myself to wake up and put on a smile as the interviewer walks in. "It's so nice to meet you ladies. I'm Roman and the producers told me your names so let me guess, Perrie, Leigh-Anne, Jesy, and Jade.", he says.

"You got it right.", Jade grins. "I'm glad. Now I'm just gonna ask you a few questions, you guys can sit, stand, or whatever else you need to do to be comfortable. Just chill out and be yourselves.", he says. I relax into the couch more and Perrie places her feet in my lap. I look over to see her laying across the three of us and look to Leigh and Jade to see them just shrugging. "So what are you all doing in college? And can I just say it's really cool that you're doing music and school.", he asks. "Leigh and I are studying to become CSI techs, you know, on the scene and whatnot.", I answer. "And I'm gonna be a forensic scientist.", Jade says. "Bio-Engineering.", Perrie says. "Very nice. So how'd you four meet and how'd you keep up your friendship?", he asks. "Uh, Jade and I met first at the community park, she was getting bullied and I stood up for her, then she met Jes being a little weirdo.", Leigh says.

"Yeah I had no friends.", Perrie says making us all laugh. "We met Pez at the pool where I saved her from drowning.", I finish. "And to keep the friendship wasn't hard. We all lived just a few houses down, always going to the park, walking around. Biking and things and such.", Jade says. "So you all are childhood friends?", he asks. Perrie nods and he smiles. "Ok next question. If you all are comfortable answering, are any of you in any relationships?", he asks. "Yeah we all are.", Leigh answers. "What stages are we in? Newly dating, honeymoon phase?", he follows up. "Freshly engaged.", Jade says. Leigh nods in agreement and Perrie and I look at them in shock. "You two are engaged?", I ask. "Yeah we didn't get a chance to tell you since we just got back this morning.", Leigh says. "We are too.", Perrie says.

"No way.", Jade says. "Well congratulations to all four of you. I hope you have happy trails and all that.", Roman says happily. "So now I'm gonna move you all to photography studio. Just hang out, I might say a pose or say something to adjust but I'll mostly just let you all do your own thing.", he says leading us away. "Why didn't you two tell us?", Jade asks. "You both were still mopey about the long distance thing, we didn't wanna rub it in your faces. Plus we were tired.", I shrug. "You can suck one.", Jade says jumping on my back. I spin around trying to throw her off and the other two laugh at our banter. "Get off me you maggot.", I grit shaking harder. Perrie and Leigh both attach themselves to my legs and I groan. "Get off me.", I laugh trying to get them all of.
